Palm products are generally safe, but I would be concerned about if it was treated with something.

Aww I think that’s all a great sign! How lovely she accepted some petting!
If her eating doesn’t improve over the next few days, I would def get her teeth checked (and keep the shelter informed). Lionheads are one of the breeds that tends to have dental issues. If she really doesn’t seem to be eating enough, I personally would syringe feed her. I…[Read more]

Thanks for all the details! I do think a couple more weeks of pre-bonding should help allow hormones to settle more.
So, bonders vary a bit in how much fur pulling they allow. I think if you are new to bonding, it’s best to try to prevent it, because things can escalate quickly to a fight when you are in the really early stages.
If one rabbit is…[Read more]

Hmm… not sure what you’re looking at. Rattan is a type of palm. You usually associated it with wicker furniture. When buying a doll bed, most people get the natural wood doll bed from Ikea.

Hey! I love the idea of getting my bunnies one of those wooden beds. I found one on Amazon but I’m concerned about them chewing it. The description says it’s made out of 100% rattan, a type of wood I guess. It doesn’t mention if it’s treated or not. I did some research and just can’t find very much information on whether it’s rabbit safe. Does a…[Read more]

Wondering if I can get some advice regarding bonding. I have 2 young males …one neutered three weeks ago [lop] and other neutered 5 weeks ago. I did place them together just once when I first got them at 12 weeks of age but the harlequin one immediately attacked. They have been living in adjacent but separate enclosures since. I was told tha…[Read more]

Thank you so much — I really appreciate it! We are wanting to move from the US to southeast Asia — not a trip we’d want to try to put Teddy through — so we are happily hanging out here and enjoying every day with him in his golden years. He’s our family and our world, so we wouldn’t consider any other option. 🙂 And we also have other wo…[Read more]

One can absolutely love and adore pets and also feel they are not compatible to fully integrate in one’s life as well — absolutely valid! While this is slightly tangential from your topic, I’ll add that a nice bridge between pet ownership and not is volunteering for any local rabbit rescues/organizations. You are then not solely responsible for…[Read more]

Meg replied to the topic Bunny has crust on back of ear. Could this be mites? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 5 months ago
Yeah, it looks like the dry skin Teddy started to get a few years ago. It doesn’t seem to bother him much (though his case is worse). Our vet said we could use MalAcetic wet wipes. We didn’t find they made much of a difference, but you might get different results.
Good luck — and don’t worry too much! 🙂

Thank you so much, Wick & Fable!! I really appreciate your thoughtful response, and this is helpful to know. One thing my partner often observes is that Teddy is a real strong bun, and he has shown us this for many years. And yes, he is our baby and I do want to give him all the love and thoughtful care that I possibly can. Thank you so muc…[Read more]

That’s an excellent article, DanaNM! Thanks for sharing. Good point to talk about it with the vet. I’d be concerned about the engine noises and pressure changes on bunny ears, as well as how the buns would react to all the commotion and any other pets on the flight. I’ve never flown first/business class before, but would try to save up for at…[Read more]

I just heard a bunch of noise from her area and went to make sure everything was okay, especially since Dorian had wandered off. Dorian and her were both doing binkies! I think that’s good sign.

She’s still barely eating. She did come out and actually let me pet her. I sat in her enclosure and after about 10 minutes she finally popped out and came to sniff me and then played about a little and ate the carrot tops I had given her and some hay. We ended up hanging out for an hour and it was good bonding for us. Dorian cam by to investigate…[Read more]
