Thank you so much, DanaNM!! I really appreciate your thoughts on this. And I’m so sorry for what you went through with your awful landlord! I’m so glad you have your own place now.
I 100% identified with these feelings:
With Bun Jovi I worry constantly, even though he’s seemingly doing great. I was just telling my husband that every day whil…[Read more]

I’m so so sorry. 🙁 I agree with Bam that Padfoot was very ill.
I had an almost identical thing happen to me with my bun Moose (completely different lead up and circumstances, but also a young bun with a host of problems). I don’t think you caused his death with the Critical Care, or any action you took. I think he was already starting to…[Read more]

I am very sorry you lost Padfoot, and in such a traumatic way.
I think you did do what you could. You should feed Critical Care, without food in the system, a rabbit goes downhill very, very fast.
I think Padfoot was very ill.
Rabbits can get vascular strokes. It’s probably often overlooked. Treatment is supportive care, like you did. One…[Read more]

I have never posted on here but am having a really hard time with the passing of my bunny Padfoot (male holland lop, 3 years old) that happened yesterday. Padfoot had health problems throughout his whole life including scoliosis, frequent poopy butt, recurring stasis, and mobility issues. Regardless, we tried to do everything we could do to help…[Read more]

It could subside, since he’s only been neutered 3 weeks (it takes time for the hormones to die down) and it is early spring right now, when even neutered rabbit’s become more sexually interested (“March hare syndrome”). I would block off the bed and keep it so for several weeks in the hope that he forgets about it.
For a rabbit, the bed has a…[Read more]

Hello all!
I’m new here, so thank you all for your patience if this has already been asked somewhere! I adopted a bun about a month ago. He’s been an absolute dream for the most part, but for a couple of reasons I decided to move his enclosure. He was originally right beside my bed, and has just been moved to the adjacent room. I put the enc…[Read more]

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone knows what breed of rabbit this might be? We adopted him today and the shelter said they were unsure and just calling him an “American”. He is huge, about 9 pounds and so friendly and sociable. Thanks 😊

A lot of the methods also don’t seem geared to freeroam house buns who are maybe a bit more integrated in a family and for whom such confinement is going to be more drastic. Taking them on a car ride to me is not quite the same level stress as the aggressive shaking of a laundry basket I have seen in some videos. They will be going to the vet…[Read more]

He probably just got the nail caught on something and damaged the nail. Don’t be surprised if the nail eventually falls off and a new one grows in.

You’re welcome! Funny you should point that out about the contradictory methods, because I actually wrote a blog post for BB about that exact issue, but it’s not out yet!
The short explanation for the dif’s in methods is that different things work for dif bunnies, and different humans. And there is not really one correct way that will bond a pair…[Read more]

Hi there, this happened last night around 8pm or so. He’s babying his foot but is eating fine and is running after me still… I booked an appointment just in case because I was scared of his limp.

How long has it been since this happened?
In most cases you just want to stop the bleeding and put on some antibiotic cream like you have, and monitor the foot. If you see undue swelling or other signs of infection, a vet visit is in order, same if he keeps limping for more than a day or so. The nail might grow out crooked.

Thanks Dana! I appreciate so much you taking the time to read my often long winded posts and give advice.
Mui had her run around the living room time this morning and Dorian just watched her from the kitchen. I let him have his elephant and he sat next it and washed it, it seemed to calm him. She got about 1/2hr and when she returned to her pen…[Read more]
