DanaNM replied to the topic Possible molar spurs? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
In my experience, if the vet thinks they can see something in the normal exam, it’s worth taking a closer look, since it’s usually pretty hard for them to see the back teeth at all. Especially since she has some symptoms of dental issues, I think I’d try to book her in for a dental. Sometimes even a tiny molar spur causes enough pain to make a bun…[Read more]

He is super cute! I agree he looks like a Flemmie, but not quite big enough to be fully Flemmie, so prob mixed with something else. 🙂
New Zealand is another big breed that comes in a lot of colors.

Fawn is a common color for Flemmies. I’m still going with that. Perhaps he is a large breed mix. Flemmie x something else?

Here is the photo from the other thread (I’ll delete that one). We’re still trying to figure out the photo uploading problem.

Id not be concerned. Offer her fresh hay and wate -simetimes they eat more if you hand feed.. If you give her greens, serve them freshly rinsed and dripping wet. Pineapple isnt toxic. It has sugar, but unless she pigged out on a huge part of a pineapple, I think she’ll be fine.

My rabbit ate a small dried pineapple wedge she found on the floor. I wasn’t aware that it was there. Should I be concerned?

It does sound great! It’s very troe that ointments make the fur less fluffy and protective, which makes sore hocks more difficult to treat. Its great news that it only seems to be callousing, not open sores!

Rain was doing really well until this past week, she got picky with her usual foods again and I noticed sneezing so we took her to the vet for Baytril asap. This is usually what she does when she’s having bacterial issues, so I thought it’d just clear up as soon as she got her first dose like it always has. Today’s the third day and she doesn…[Read more]

Thank you so much! That’s really reassuring to hear. 🙂 And Teddy will be so thrilled we don’t have to pick him up every day anymore! 😉

Hard to tell based on the photo angle, but there are some flemmie-like shapes there. Depending on age, he may do some more growing.

It’s great to hear he is otherwise doing well and the concern regarding creams does actually make sense. Stable weight especially is a great sign as well. Thanks for the update!!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to update briefly — I kept up some different ointments until we took Teddy to the vet on Friday. She actually said she didn’t think the skin looked broken, just balding at this point. And that she would actually not suggest ointments/creams, since it tends to keep the skin too soft and can accelerate the fur loss (t…[Read more]

Thank you so much, DanaNM!! I really appreciate your thoughts on this. And I’m so sorry for what you went through with your awful landlord! I’m so glad you have your own place now.
I 100% identified with these feelings:
With Bun Jovi I worry constantly, even though he’s seemingly doing great. I was just telling my husband that every day whil…[Read more]

I’m so so sorry. 🙁 I agree with Bam that Padfoot was very ill.
I had an almost identical thing happen to me with my bun Moose (completely different lead up and circumstances, but also a young bun with a host of problems). I don’t think you caused his death with the Critical Care, or any action you took. I think he was already starting to…[Read more]

I am very sorry you lost Padfoot, and in such a traumatic way.
I think you did do what you could. You should feed Critical Care, without food in the system, a rabbit goes downhill very, very fast.
I think Padfoot was very ill.
Rabbits can get vascular strokes. It’s probably often overlooked. Treatment is supportive care, like you did. One…[Read more]

I have never posted on here but am having a really hard time with the passing of my bunny Padfoot (male holland lop, 3 years old) that happened yesterday. Padfoot had health problems throughout his whole life including scoliosis, frequent poopy butt, recurring stasis, and mobility issues. Regardless, we tried to do everything we could do to help…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Bunny Marking My Bed? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 5 months ago
It could subside, since he’s only been neutered 3 weeks (it takes time for the hormones to die down) and it is early spring right now, when even neutered rabbit’s become more sexually interested (“March hare syndrome”). I would block off the bed and keep it so for several weeks in the hope that he forgets about it.
For a rabbit, the bed has a…[Read more]
