Miu is very much a teenage bun, I don’t think she will ever stay still enough to flop! She has been exploring the living room for the past hour while Dorian is in his room. I suspect he is pouting a bit as he usually likes to flop under my chair right now, but I am trying to see if the bigger space will tire her out a bit. Dorian was a lot like…[Read more]

I have 2 buns and they both have the same diet.
Oaten hay and bit of Timothy or meadow and rye hay mixed. They don’t eat too much of this. Oaten is their favourite.
A teaspoon of oxbow adult pellets.
A handful of buffalo and cat grass (like wheatgrass).
As treats ever other day they get a small piece of clover, rye and Oaten hay cube or Oxbow…[Read more]

Rabbits are smaller, so things do just happen at a more “rapid” rate you can say. That being said, similar to humans, the rabbit’s age will impact a lot. Two rabbits with identical fractures may have different bone callous formation/healing times if one is younger and the other is older. As a result of this rapid-ness though, it means rabbit…[Read more]

😀 Happy to report they spent their first night together. It was without a huge fight and they sleeping together,.
1. Their illnesses, multiple in each one, had to be 90%+ resolved – I think this was the major issue/stressor. BUN2 was probably is lots of pain. This is their first illness while together. I do wonder if bond would break again if…[Read more]

All things being equal and taking into account enviroment, do bunnies heal faster? Outside of chronic issues, it seems whether healing from surgery, broken bones, etc, the pace of healing is rapid compared to humans.

He was sooooo cute! And what a cute pair he made with Mooney. <3
The short answer is you might not ever stop wondering what exactly happened, and probably won’t ever know, unfortunately. When a bun starts to “crash”, they often show signs and symptoms that are like familiar things that we know how to treat, but then all of the sudden things take…[Read more]

Most bunnies don’t like to be held or cuddled too much. And buns do vary in how many pets they like to get, even once they trust you. I’ve had the best success with playing “hard to get”, along with hand feeding.
Is your bun food motivated? Perhaps you could do some clicker training with him to find a way to interact with him that isn’t as…[Read more]

I agree with Wick.
But if he has intermittent gas trouble, letting him out to play could perhaps help him pass gas? And that relief could be so great that that he binkies and flops.

There are some tips here for bonding with one’s rabbit: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Behavior_FAQ#How_do_I_make_my_bunny_like_me?
In general, you do not want to bond with a rabbit by picking them up/holding them. They will almost always experience that very negatively since instinctively they feel most safe and secure on the floor and being able…[Read more]

A rabbit “prone to gas/stasis” is interesting and makes me wonder if changes in care may alleviate that, specifically diet changes. A rabbit simply being more nervous/skittish should not be experiencing significant gas frequently, as all rabbits are, to an extent, very nervous and skittish since they are prey animals owned by large human…[Read more]

I have a rabbit named Pumpkin. He’s 2 y/o and I love him. I’ve had him since he was approx. 1 month old. I’ve tried so hard to bond with him but he just doesn’t like me I guess.. I’ve tried it all. from holding him to letting him adjust to me, to even distancing from my own room. The only time he cares for me is when I’m not paying attention to…[Read more]

Hi everyone, brand new member from Australia 🙂
I have 1 very nervous and skittish bunny who is prone to gas/ stasis. Sometimes he acts more reserved than usual, doesn’t come out of his sleeping area to socialise, or sleeps a lot more or sleeps in an unusual spot. All of these generally indicate something is not right.
But then after a while, or…[Read more]

Thank you Bam and DanaNM for your responses. It’s really comforting to hear that you would have done the same in the situation. When I explain what happened to non-bunny people, they just don’t understand and assume I knew what I was doing and did what was best. Padfoot was my first bun and everything was happening for the first time, and I just…[Read more]
