DanaNM replied to the topic Should I Neuter My Single Boy Bun Who Is Not Displaying Any Hormonal Behavior in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 5 months ago
If he isn’t showing any behavioral issues (lucky you!), the main reason to neuter would be in case you ever want to bond him with another rabbit in the future. If you think there’s a chance of future bonding, then neutering now would be a good idea.
Issues might pop up in the future as well. Sometimes if the bun is older when neutered, they are…[Read more]

I think that sounds like a fine strategy! She always has hay available, so it’s not as though she has to come to you to eat anything, just her pellets (and salad?). The only thing is I wouldn’t force the petting all the time while she’s eating. You could use the time while she’s eating to brush her too. It would be good to just pet little bits,…[Read more]

Addition: when I adopted her, all they could tell me was that she “was in a foster home with two kids, so she’s pretty used to being picked up.” I don’t pick up my bunnies unless absolutely necessary, and my working theory is that the kids would lure her in with treats just to pick her up. She’s okay with her face being touched, but does the dine-…[Read more]

Hi! This is my first post so I apologize in advance for any mistakes! Anyway, I have an 8 month old Holland Lop single boy. He is overdue for neutering and I booked him in for neutering next week. However, I am having second thoughts now as he is still using his litter box diligently and is not showing signs of aggression or mounting me. He is…[Read more]

Good morning!
It seems I’ e been all around this forum lately, and I’ve really appreciated all the advice that everyone has been giving! Anyway, I adopted a second bun a couple of days ago and named her Tess. While I didn’t get much information about her, I’ve noticed a couple prominent traits of hers, mainly her skittishness. She seems to WANT…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi all I know the ideal temperature for rabbits is between 10 – 25 degrees Celsius. Anything above and rabbits need to be monitored for overheating.</p>
I’m also wondering about humidity. What is the ideal range of humidity. We’ve had bad weather in Sydney, Australia and humidity has been between 80-99% most days. The…[Read more]

Thank you for all that. I was snot aware.
I’m not planning to give it forever. The vet said to give it for 2 weeks. My buns aren’t really liking the taste though so I’ve been mixing it with EmerAid ( Like Critical Care) and they have been eating that. I’m reluctant to feed them EmerAid for 2 weeks so we’ll see.
I’m just hoping a few days of…[Read more]

Rabbits are highly dependant on gut microbes to extract nourishment from their food. It is due to gut microbes that they can convert cellulose to starch, which humans can’t. In weaning rabbits, whose gut microbiota isn’t yet fully developped, adding a probiotic can help them extract and take up more nourishment from cheap foods like grass hay and…[Read more]

If you think of it as just food, it shouldn’t add significant weight since it’s not sugary/calorie-dense (to my understanding) and you’re not feeding a large quantity of it either.
Also, note that weight ranges based on breed are arbitrarily set so using feel based on each individual rabbit is a much more valid measure of whether a rabbit is…[Read more]

I don’t see how you taking them orally would pose any kind of risk to your rabbit. You should be fine.

Hi everyone! I posted a question a few weeks ago because I was using a topical Clindamycin lotion on my face and I was worried because I know that Clindamycin is dangerous to rabbits. I am now starting Cephalexin 750 mg capsules orally for a week and I am worried about this. Is it okay for me to take these antibiotics and then interact with my…[Read more]

Thank you. Good to know! It’s a bit like how baby gas drops/simethicone is controversial.
Does it make adult rabbits gain weight as well? One of mine is a 2.5kg lop so not overweight but shouldn’t gain anymore weight and has maxed out her healthy range.

So I don’t regularly groom Dorian, only when he molts about 4 times a year (well around a couple weeks to a month 4xs). But new bun Lillian Miu is a Lionhead mix (other part lop) and she’s got a lot more fluff, it also seems to get tangled and get stuff stuck in it. I have sort of just used my hands for now as she’s still getting used to us, but…[Read more]
