I’m sorry to hear that your bunnies have been unwell for so long. It makes me wonder whether it could be something environmental. Something that they get into every so often, or not too much of that it only upsets them every now and then. Litter, bedding, chewed carpeting or furniture. Any house plants or plants/weeds in the garden that they may…[Read more]

Thanks everyone. I would just trim it a bit so it doesn’t drag across the floor. Her furs just not as silky as Dorian’s so it seems to tangle super easy. She was bopping about with a piece of paper on her butt for days as I just couldn’t get it off. Looked so silly. Finally got it, but noticed a couple matts. Lunch usually means some greens s…[Read more]

Hi all – is it ok to feed fresh grass after heavy rain?
It’s been raining pretty much everyday for the last month, some days being very heavy.
Is it still ok to feed the fresh grass that’s been rained on? I’ve been making sure only the green ones with no markings are fed.
Thanks

I got the comb off this website, works well. But neither Walter or Boo really have any matting issues…so far anyhow!

Can I give her pain meds more than once a day? She’s really worrying me right now, and I’m just trying to keep her going till monday. It says on the bottle .3 mL once a day but I feel like she’s in a lot of pain right now since they’ve likely worn off. Her stomach also still feels like its full of gas even though I gave her gas drops 3 times t…[Read more]

Hello all, I don’t really have any questions just a need to share. Last night (Saturday 5th) Apollo had a neurological episode. I heard a strange sound from the bunny pen so came rushing in to find him just righting himself from being upside down (I think he may have been rolling).
After he was standing he seemed out of it and I realised he…[Read more]

I was wanting a blue female. Was going to wait until next litter or two.
Well, neice (the breeder) had a pup returned, chocolate male. She gifted him to me for my birthday.
Still working on a name. He’s doing great with the dogs. Hasn’t really looked twice at the rabbits. He’ll be crate trained while we are gone and we’ll see how it goes…[Read more]

Treating for ringworm would be smart — it has a similar presentation, yes: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Ringworm
(Graphic images warning: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Skin_diseases/Fungal/Fungal_en.htm)Separately, there are some things in the care content you outline that are unusual. First, how old is your rabbit? The alfalfa-based diet…[Read more]

There is nothing wrong with shaving or trimming the rear area. Just be careful not to cut too close to the skin. You wouldn’t want to accidentally cut her. French angoras are actually surprisingly easy to maintain because they have guard hairs. The fur doesn’t mat as easily. I had a Jersey wooly, which is a same fur type. I used a hair buster…[Read more]

I think 14 days is probably more than sufficient.

Considering it’s location, it’s probably ringworm or a similar infection.

hi! im just wondering how long you all waited after your rabbit was spayed to let them out of their cage and run/jump/binky like normal? she was spayed 16 days ago but then she had to be put back under anesthesia 14 days ago to redo her stitches. the paper i got from the vet says to limit excercise for 14 days and her incision looks like it’s…[Read more]

Okay, that’s good to know! I am noticing her chewing is mood induced, so hopefully as she feels calmer and they are bonded there will be less if it. Yesterday it was a constant nightmare as she was in a huff about the previous evening, but today she’s has barely chewed on anything.
I did see a suggestion on line of using willow bridges for the…[Read more]

Hello all,
I bought my rabbit a few weeks ago and recently noticed this patch on the back of her head (it progressively got worse). I’ve tried scouring the internet for images that may resemble what she has but I’m having no luck. What could this be? Thank you.

Yeah I’ll definitely take her in on Monday, she’s been on baytril and pain meds the whole week and hasn’t improved her appetite or poop production. I’m very worried because she’s super slow today and still sneezing a lot. She still gets excited over Critical care (it’s like crack for her) and pellets, and will eat romaine lettuce if i hold it for…[Read more]

Thanks Bam! I managed to get some of her tangles, but she’s got a piece paper matted in her butt floof that I am just not able to get at. Is it OK to trim that area a little? I won’t until she’s more settled, but it picks up everything.
I don’t know how people manage Angoras!

I had a teddy-lionhead (named Vilde, a beautiful boy). I used a small slicker brush on him. It was the only thing I could make work. The fur I brushed off I saved, and some it came in handy when he developped sore hocks after a prolonged period of illness.
