Unfortunately, there is no clear way to identify what is “potty wars” versus lack of litterbox adoption, and arguably, it is impossible to separate the two as well. Perhaps you can just line the border with litter boxes to address both matters at once?

Significant changes in weight is definitely not something you want to see — if this is present and change cannot be explained by diet, a rabbit should be assessed by a rabbit-experienced exotic veterinarian to assess what might be leading to weight changes.
Sleep patterns, especially for rabbits used to the environment and the owner, I…[Read more]

Yes, rabbits are affected by amount of daylight. More daylight = less melatonin (sleep hormone), more sex hormones. Even desexed rabbits tend to get some sort of “March Hare Syndrome” this time of year in the Northern hemisphere. (Changes in temperature of course also affects their energy -they dont do much when its very warm).

Hi, all!
Thank you so much for your advice regarding Gideon and Tess so far! They’re taking to each other really well, and I’m especially surprised about it given Gideon’s initial grumpiness over having to share the house. He’s always been very good with litter training and the potty wars already seem to have subsided — at least on his end. Tess…[Read more]

This is very difficult, as you are saying. It is vital that he eats, but stressing him with force feeding doesnt seem quite right unless he absolutely wont eat. Is there any mix of anything you think he’d eat from a plate? Critical Care mixed with canned plain pumpkin? Maybe some fresh herbs? Some grated carrot?

Heya thanks for the reply, as I posted above just now, the high pitched squeals I did try once. No luck. Probably because I am a bloke and incapable of a high-pitched note.

He’s only ever in his cage when I have to go out, I work from home so probably an hour or two tops a day and it’s a good 3x4m at the moment and I plan on extending it once he’s bigger.
Hes got so many toys, chews, bells, pulling mats and boxes to choose from. We have an electric water bowl as well so the water is running and not still as he…[Read more]

I was just curious to whether or not bunnies begin to behave different in the summer than they do the winter. I know animals like ferrets get chubbier and stock up during the winter months and lose the weight in the summer.

I’m very sorry you lost Snowball. We an only make guesses of what took him. Rabbits can get strokes, but one-sided droopy face could also be a sign of an ear infection or e cuniculi. When a rabbit gets sick, fur mites might flare up and cause dandruff. Rabbits tend to always hae a small number of fur mites, but the immune defense keeps the numbers…[Read more]

It’s not likely that a healthy rabbit would get c diff unless its normal gut microbiota was disturbed. That said, a person that has c diff should take great care to wash hands etc.

Hi there! So Teddy’s been doing quite well the past week or so, eating nicely, until today. He didn’t eat many greens overnight (whereas normally he does), and though he ate his medicine plate readily at lunchtime, he spent from like 1pm-8pm or so napping in the same spot, which is quite a bit longer than usual. Then, an hour or two after wa…[Read more]

I was told both my buns liked being held when I got them. It wasn’t true for either! Dorian who I have had for a while is pretty tolerant of it now, but I general avoid it. Miu my new bun, would just freeze initially. I think she was terrified. Now she kicks and makes a big fuss like it sounds like yours does! I take it as a sign she is not t…[Read more]

He actually looks quite curious about it and not scared. If you decide to keep doing it I would just make sure the top is closed (realize you said you just did it for filming) as all it would take was something to startle him. And avoid dogs and areas with loud noises such as construction or busy streets as much as possible.

Sorry no help with why, but sorry the vets couldn’t make an emergency exception. And even more so that you lost your bun Snowball. Hope someone with more bun experience can help out.
