Bam replied to the topic Smelly rabbit poop in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
Yes, it is normal. Daytime is “lounging-time” for rabbits and their GI tracts. Rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they’re mostly active in the mornings and evenings. With activity, you get poop. This is more marked in adult rabbits and less marked in youngsters. It’s how it’s supposed to be.

O, dear. Poor little bub. So glad he came around and started eating again!
I couldn’t find my notes from the ear lecture beause they’re from before I broke my phone and it was factory reset by Samsung, and all my notes were erased and stupid me hadn’t backed them up to the cloud 🙁
Is he on any kind of pain meds? If he is on meloxicam, it’s a…[Read more]

Didn’t want to make a new post so i will ask here. My rabbit doesn’t poop throughout the day from like 9am until 5pm. Then she has completely normal sized poops and she poops through the night normally too.
Is this normal that’s he won’t go on toilet through day?

Apollo had a bad night, in pain, not moving much, but I checked on him lots and around 6am he was happy as a clam eating hay again.
It’s a relief but just adds to the confusion but have at least avoided another vet visit for now.

They do everything together, but sleep… I am not sure why. They are currently napping in different corners of the room. Should I be concerned? Or it will just take some time? (& yes I am a worrier it seems! Sorry Dana!!)

It is best to not take chances. Even if your bunnies don’t ingest any of the litter, you don’t want them sitting on and hopping across possibly sharp pieces of plastic or any sharp items. I hope that the litter manufacturer and the store will listen to your concerns, and that the manufacturer will take actions to make sure their litter is free f…[Read more]

Yes, that’s the kind of litter I use but not the same brand. Thank you for responding and suggesting I contact the store as well. It doesn’t seem like they eat it but I’m not taking chances.

Regardless of being spayed or not, efforts to have a rabbit consistently not poop/pee on a bed are… fruitless, in my opinion. You have a much better chance at more consistent no-instances if your rabbit is spayed, but even with spaying, some rabbits will always be tempted to mark the bed. They are just so soft, comfy, and hold a lot of human…[Read more]

Thanks Dana!!
I let them out together this morning and they are running amok together. Most of those I feel confident I can check off as they have never been very territorial around each other and sharing food, toys, etc is no issue, just need them to show the behavior for 48 hours! They don’t snuggle together much that I have seen yet, but they…[Read more]

my bunny has not peed on my bed for a very long time after training her not to. But today, I have found out she started peeing on the edge of my bed and just now like right behind me on the edge of my bed she peed again. Is it her hormones (she isnt spayed yet) making her start do this or is there another reason?

Is it the recycled newspaper pellet litter that you are using? I don’t use that kind of litter, but in a Google search just now, I found an old post (from 2015) where the poster was using All Living Things paper pellet litter from Pet Smart and it contained small pieces of sharp plastic, pieces of dried paint, pieces of latex and other things…[Read more]

That must have been very scary for you, I’m glad that your rabbit survived the shock. In terms of injury, burns around and in the mouth are pretty common. It seems like she received quite a decent shock so there’s potential for internal injuries to organs, a blood test may reveal that but it could also be too early to show anything like…[Read more]

Well would ya look at that! Awesome!
As for reciprocal groooming, it doesn’t always happen right away, and in many pairs the grooming does tend to be a bit more one sided. My sense is that the reciprocal grooming happens once they are completely done sorting out their dominance. So in this case, Dorian might not groom until he’s sure Miu isn’t…[Read more]
