Dana, the clicker training is brilliant! I have never used a clicker before for training. I’ll have to look into it!
BTW, a little silver lining from this illness we just went through is that the technician who took Kotton home to nurse had sent her bunny home with us (due to space limitation at her home). The bunny we kept for two days is a big…[Read more]

Aww I’m sure she will! My best advice is to play “hard to get” and basically ignore her for a while. 🙂

Thanks everyone!
Not sure about a name yet, me and my partner can’t quite decided on which one suits her best.
She wont really let me pet her yet, runs, thumps and hides if I try to pet her, but if I sit in the room for long periods of time she will anxious start to forage around her pen, groom a little and eat some cecals as long as I make no…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Normal Weight Gain in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 4 months ago
Hmmm, that’s a bit odd. 2 tablespoons is a very small amount of pellets for a young rabbit. I don’t want to go against the vet advice, but you might ask them again, because that is much less than most people feed a 5 month old rabbit (usually it’s closer to 1/4 cup if not unlimited). When rabbits grow it is normal for them to get longer/taller…[Read more]

Yeah, all the horror stories tend to get amplified on the internet, but issues pretty rare in general, especially when they travel in the same carrier together. 🙂

Other’s have give great advice! I second talking to the rescue especially. It might even make more sense to adopt an older bun that doesn’t have so much energy.
One tip for bar rattling is to clip a visual barrier to the pen walls, like a sheet or a towel. Those black binder clips work great for this.
I also agree that a litter box screen works…[Read more]

I just came across this thread – WOW!! Congratulations!! 😀 This is amazing that it took so little time for them to bond… They must be a great pair. <3
I’m looking forward to all of the happily bonded pics! 😉

Good bunny proofing, be prepared to have to fine tune it. If accidents happen redce space. Keep a space area that is theirs. Oh and sometimes a towel or sheet over the bars can cause them to chill out. Worth a try. You got this and if not that’s OK too.

Thank you bam for the advice! I definitely am experiencing the “puppy depression” but i’ll try to tough it out for now, if it still lasts after several months i’ll reconsider again.
Thank you prince dorian the bun for the suggestions! i’ll give the mesh a try and make a digging box for him when i can.
I also do plan on letting him be fully fre…[Read more]

How pretty she was!
A stroke, like Dana says, seems likely. If her cataracts were due to e c, it could have affected other organs, like the heart. It’s not something a vet could pick up on in a normal exam. I don’t see how you could’ve prevented this, since she was eating and cuddling just hours before passing away. It seems like she had a…[Read more]

Thanks for your replies
He is ok at the moment (eating ) in metacam twice a day. Still unsteady on the back legs at times.
My other bunny came out in sympathy and looked ill. She was eating the extra food for him and had those big smelly poops. Syringe fed (stopped the treats) keeping an eye on her too. Just about to cut her nails which is…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss 🙁
You did the best that you could, you checked up on her and was monitoring her. Don’t blame yourself because no one could’ve foreseen that. You are a great owner and Juno is so lucky to have you to take care of her and have such an attentive owner.
I wish you and your bunnies the best <3

If you’ve only had him for 2 weeks, I’d talk to the shelter. It might be that you’re just not ready to be a bunowner just now. Rabbits are quite a bit of work, and especially young rabbits can be challenging.
That said, sometimes getting a pet -any pet -can feel overwhelming at first. People can get “puppy depression” after getting a puppy dog…[Read more]

If you got him from a shelter I would talk to them before re-homing yourself.
That said mental health and anxiety are difficult to give advice on. If anxiety is something you have struggled with in the past, only you (and a professional) know how to treat it and if the responsibility of a bun is making it worse. It may be if you are able to…[Read more]

Ever since I got my bun Suki from a shelter(my local spca) about two weeks ago my mental health has gotten really bad, I’ve been so stressed and anxious, having breakdowns everyday. He has flopped and did binkies so I know he’s getting comfortable, but recently he has been digging up and chewing on his litter box, digging at the flooring, rattling…[Read more]
