I just wanted to share here that all 4 of my bunnies (ages 2, 4, 6, and 13) got their first Medgene vaccine dose yesterday and they did amazingly! I’m so relieved!
They were unhappy in the car (4 hours roundtrip!) but started eating right away when we got home and are all acting normal today. The vet who ran the clinic said she had vaccinated…[Read more]

Many buns get some GI trouble when they molt. It’s important to brush off as much hair as possible and keep an eye so they eat like they should. You can serve their greens freshly rinsed and dripping wet increase their water intake. It’s good to have simethicone baby gasdrops on hand as a first-aid measure if they start showing signs of gas.

Can molting reduce the size in poops, it’s not that small that’s concerning for me to take to the vet but they have gotten smaller.

So glad the vax trip went well. It’s always a bit nerve wracking having them spend so long in the car.
Ellie, I hope the bonding is going well.
I was able to visit with my sister’s family for the first time in over 2 years yesterday! It was so much fun. They happened to travel interstate right as the pandemic was beginning and they ended up…[Read more]

That’s great! Poor girl must feel so much better!
If this was her first dental, she may not need them that frequently. Around age 5-6 buns bone density shifts a bit and they can need a filing or two to get them back on track, but may not need them as regularly as buns that have dental issues from a young age.

Hmmm, I usually buy bales from a local feed shop and have never had that kind of issue!
If there are feed shops in your area, I’d recommend checking their hay out to see how the quality is because there can be regional variation in suppliers.

Woohoo! Well done bunnies! Long journeys are always so worrying with buns.
My fingers are crossed that they make the vaccine more available in your area soon!
Ellie – good luck with the bonding, hopefully you’ll get there! I am already dreading (but also excited) having to start a whole new bonding process at the end of the month.

Oooh perhaps I can pull the whole root out too then!
That a good point about home grown herbs, I am planning on getting some equipment so I can home grow some things for the buns! My buns have always prefered veg from the farmers market over supermarket veg!
Side note, Nellies appetite is through the roof, her hay eating especially so her teeth…[Read more]

I buy from Small Pet Select and have never had issues with it.
The cheapest you can go is probably a local farm and you can actually see the bales prior to buying. If you have any local rabbit rescues near you, they often sell hay as well and your purchase would be helping their rescue.

If there are increased instances of you shaking it without giving them a treat, it’s possible he has learned that the cue doesn’t always mean treats, therefore he’s not going to get riled up for it, while his sister still is hopeful that the sound is reliably associated with getting a treat.
Every time you present the stimulus without the…[Read more]

I’ve tried buying hay from smaller businesses because then I know it’s fresher and better for her and she loves it. I’ve ordered from two different companies one had issues with there being dead bugs in it and the other I had issues with there being larger rocks and tiny rocks that she could have choked on. Has anyone else had issues like this…[Read more]

I always give a digestive oxbow treat twice a day once at 8AM and 5PM which they always take. But sometime after that during the night i shake it just to make sure they’re ok lol idk I’m paranoid. Anyways, I’ve noticed that whenever my male bunny who is around 4-5 year old gets in his box to relax he just stays there and ignores me shaking the t…[Read more]

Adorable! For reference, they should be separated at 12 weeks. For now it’s good they are together since they are so young. 🙂
I recently had a convo with my husband that we thought it would be cute to name a group of buns after apple varieties!
So many good ones: Crispin, Fuji, Gala, Macintosh, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, LOL!
Another idea we had…[Read more]

You can start a separate naming topic, if you’d like so others can contribute knowing based on the topic name what you’re looking for!
Please note that you should anticipate on separating and housing these rabbits separate from each other in the near future, not only to prevent accidental pregnancy, but also to eliminate the risk that they may…[Read more]
