The best thing I’ve seen for HUGE litter boxes are the concrete mixing tubs they sell at the hardware store. There is a range of sizes (I see one that’s 24″ x 36″ x 8″), so I’m sure you could find one that would work (or perhaps two that you could wedge in there without a gap between them, so they don’t pee in the middle!).

Glad to hear his kidneys are good!

I also have a 13 yr old senior that can get super hormonal (honking, spraying, trying to mount his bonded mate), etc. After doing a full work up on his bladder to rule out those issues, I did some experimenting with his diet and found that when he eats a lot of calcium or gets dehydrated he turns into a honking…[Read more]

    Thanks for the reply.

I have 2 buns and there is an eating/dominance issue going on. My other bun, Roo(male) is 3 years old, Pugsley(female) will turn 4 this year. They currently get 2tbsp of pellets in the morning. Used to be 2tbsp each, but they felt like they were getting fat and I decreased it. Pugsley is typically dominant, but Roo has been…[Read more]

All I have to add is just keep at it! Keep getting that recovery food into her, even if it’s a little at a time. Stasis recovery can be like “trying to jump start a train”, so patience with the supportive care is key!

A tip I got from another member for syringing fluids and CC is to use the 1 mL syringes. It sounds crazy, but the buns really seem…[Read more]

The first picture is adorable, that is a pic of a very comfy and relaxed bunny. 🙂

The second pic is hard to say, but she looks fairly relaxed in that on as well. Some buns just like to sit like this. She doesn’t appear to be squinting, which is another pain symptom that often goes along with the belly pressing.

How long have you had her? And…[Read more]

Carpet can contribute to sore hocks, so if they spend a lot of time on the carpeted area, that could be contributing. Adding a few layers of fleece blankets on top of the carpet should help.

You also may be on to something with their nails, they could just need them trimmed more frequently for a bit.

Sounds like progress to me! Eating together is great. You should start seeing more and more relaxed behavior over time! Sometimes it seems like a switch is flipped and they just accept the situation and stop freaking out. 🙂

hello! thank you so much for your response! they seem to be a healthy weight, even for netherland dwarfs. i understand the one listed on google is 2.5lbs, but both of my buns were 2ish lbs when i got them as babies. the vet always says they are healthy! they get plenty of exercise, although their nails may be a small issue. i am unable to trim…[Read more]

One of my rabbits, Pugsley, has been behaving in an unusual way. There is a corner litter pan that she has been sitting in a lot which is something she didn’t do before. Other times she will sit elsewhere like normal. But I am worried there is something wrong with her belly because I’ve read that bunnies will sit on hard surfaces to put pressure…[Read more]

Have you tried any relaxation remedies? I have had no luck with the Rescue Remedy working, but Small Pet Select’s Zen Tranquility blend mellows out Fable, who is the most anxious rabbit ever.

With them both having sore hocks (and not being Rexes), it does lean into environmental/care factors that may be contributing it. Can you link a picture of your set-up perhaps?

Outside environmental, other factors contributing to sore hocks include being overweight (I mention because weight standards by breed are arbitrary, so there is always a…[Read more]

hello! this is only my second post so i hope this is the right place to ask this. both of my bunnies, daisy and honey are sadly suffering from sore hocks. they have seen the the vet a couple of times, but sadly i’ve been having trouble reaching her to address my current concerns. i’m mostly worried that their feet aren’t fully healing, even with…[Read more]

Only thing I can think of would be that she had sth stuck between her teeth, like a tiny piece of hay, that caused her some pain until it eventually came loose by itself.

I’m glad she’s back to eating again! Obviously keep a close eye so you see she continues eating.

I dont think its pain if she doesnt display any other signs of pain. I had a bun whose teeth purring could be heard across a room.

Update: we had an appointment scheduled but ended up not having to go as my girl resumed eating normally! Very happy about this but also very confused about what could have caused her to be so averse to hard foods for almost 5 full days but then return to normal eating. Any thoughts?

    Hi everyone!

So, my bunny has been making audible noises that sound like a combination of teeth chattering and grinding. She does so when in a (seemingly) relaxed loaf position which makes me think that it doesn’t look like she’s in pain. She’s not hunched over or in any weird position and otherwise, is her usual happy,  hungry and binky…[Read more]
