^ This is very good advice. I’d think about the rabbit savvy vet too. Maybe you can ask for a telephone consult with the rabbit savvy vet, so they can assess her medical situation.
I know that a spay is very scary, especially if your bunny already has medical issues. Hell, even we were very scared to get our healthy little dwarf girl spayed…[Read more]

Honestly, since she is unspayed, they really can’t detect an infection, and her sludge is not severe, my bet is that this is hormonal. All the symptoms (marking, mounting, no signs of pain or discomfort) line up with an unspayed bun just acting normally. Since you mentioned your vet is not truly that rabbit savvy I would personally not want to…[Read more]

BZOO also reminded me that you can also get pure timothy pellets that are made for horses. They can be helpful for buns that are having issues with hay but will eat pellets. Of course they don’t help with the teeth but they can at least help with digestion.

I found the paper mat instructions! This was originally in the “Carrot Tribune”, the newsletter for Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter, written by Jean Silva. You’ll notice she mentions the LA Times but any newspaper works! I can see if I can get the pictures if this is still confusing.

Make a mat for your bunny or guinea pig to enjoy.…[Read more] -
DanaNM replied to the topic should I screen for EC in Bun Jovi? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 3 months ago
Thank you! yes I think it most likely probably is arthritis and/or spondylosis. I might get another low-sided litter box to see if that will be helpful for him. I used to have one for Bertha and it helped her a lot. <3
I had a vivid dream the other night that he was jumping up on things and binkying like he used to, was pretty sad when i realized…[Read more]

Poor Bun jovi.
His symptoms sound quite similar to Bellas when she had arthritis (spondylosis). So just to point out some similarities that might help you.
She also experienced urinary incontinence that was from not being able to squat properly and also not wanting to jump into the little box.. So I wonder if its from that? She also used to p…[Read more]

Just to add, I’ve moved mine around often and they have always been fine.
Glenn is particularly well travelled and we have lived in 3 different housed together and in his first 3 years we lived very far from family so we would also travel him to visit mine and my partners parents every summer and Christmas and he would stay in their houses for a…[Read more]

That’s a good point. Fleas can become immune to the main ingredient.
Which formula of Advantage was this? They discontinued the original. But there is also Advantage II and Advantage Multi.

Yeah, the drinking is suspicious. I’m wondering how thoroughly they looked at his teeth.

You would be surprised at how adaptable they are. As long as they have all of their stuff and the setup is kept pretty much the same, most bunnies do just fine with the move. Sometimes they take a little bit to want to explore. I like the idea of not washing anything. That way things still smell like him.

Hey Dana – thanks so much for responding! I will look for baby keys – I forgot I also have baby stack-a-cups I can use.
Do you mind clarifying what you mean by paper mat? You said to weave the strips together… are you saying to cut the newspaper in 2 inches wide and then connect them by putting one strip below/above/below/above each other a…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>They gave us metacam but it tends to upset her tummy and makes her eat less so we usually give it to her for 3-4 days max. She didn’t seem to be in pain at all, if anything she was more energetic than usual. The vet told us to watch if she seems off. If she does they said we can try a smaller dose.</p>

If she eats the pellets well, can you feed more? Sherwood has a pellet that is just Timothy (with vit/min).
It’s made for buns who aren’t big hay eaters.

You have both made me feel better about it, thanks. Everyone has calmed down from the panic now… Although it seems like the bunnies were un-phased anyway so it’s really just me that needed to calm down lol, they have just gone about their day as normal since, so there doesn’t appear to be any lasting grudes.

I second Dana, he’ll be fine! If he has his own stuff that smells of him, hidey houses, perhaps tunnels (cat tunnels or f ex cardboard concrete-casting tubes) plus his humans, he’ll most likely transition just fine. You will bring your scents and voices and stuff i e all the things that constitute “home”.

Hmm, did they give you any pain meds? Sometimes just noticing if there’s an improvement with pain meds is informative.
Baytril is a safe antibiotic to use in rabbits, but I’m not too familiar with its use in bladder lining issues.
For bladder sludge, encouraging hydration and movement can help. Some bunnies need to have their bladders flushed…[Read more]
