Oooh, hreat that she likes fresh grass! The most important thing for the tummy and teeth is hay and grass (hay is of course dry grass). This time of year, in the Northern hemisphere, grass is generally safe. It’s early spring grass that has a lot of simple sugars that can mess with the microbial balance in the cecum).
Fingers crossed she’ll keep…[Read more]

🥰🥰🥰 Lazy buns are the best!
Here’s Snöa when she was helping me watch season 4 or Stranger Things. She found it it charming, but quite silly. She liked the new character Eddie, but missed Billy and his awesome mullet and ‘stache. 😉

Thank you for the grass suggestion! It was quite the hit. Still waiting on her vet (due to it being the weekend) – but she’s eating some hay and the grass and a few greens here and there. No pellets but the critical care should make up for that. Thanks again to everyone for the thoughts and helpful advice.

Hehe, my vet didn’t know it either, and it made him laugh. The word just makes so much sense! Rabbittude, every owner will know what you’re taking about. It’s a very good sign when rabbits start to show that again.

Thank you so much for all of your help! It’s always hard for me to know if I’m making the right calls on things, so the reassurance and tips are really helpful. I’m definitely going to take a break to let everyone recover (myself included haha) for the next few weeks before I do anything. I teach and I’m on summer break right now, so maybe I’ll…[Read more]

Yep, I’d make vague gestures towards her when she isn’t watching, and keep looking for another vet.
Is Metacam prescription-only in the US? My boyfriend’s family was shocked about the kinds of human medication that were sold OTC there. Any way to get that without going to a vet?

I think you made the right call. Some buns just aren’t a good match, unfortunately!
I definitely agree with getting some rest before embarking on the trio, but hopefully that goes more smoothly!

Hi Printme, welcome to BB! Unlike other forums, we ask members not to reply to old threads, as it can be confusing and you are unlikely to get a response from the OP. This thread is several years old now so I’m going to close it.

Awww Glen <3! I’m so happy he’s doing well. Many rabbits feel so much better after their dental that they eat right away, so I’m glad he’s feeling good!

Thanks everyone! Yes he has the 1.5 mg/mL concentration, both for his past prescription and current one. @Glenn, Bella was almost the same weight as Bun Jovi and that was almost the exact same dose he got from his old vet.
She just seemed hesitant to have him on a higher dose or even a daily dose for “vague gestures about kidneys and liver“, but…[Read more]

Need a quick pick-me-up? Let’s share pictures of our bunnies living their best life ^_^
Our Owen and Molly are always flopping and lazing about, it’s so great to watch them enjoy themselves 🥰
Not everything is going smoothly yet while bonding them, but when they’re scared or tired they immediately seek each other out to flop against each…[Read more]

Yay for being rid of the ear infection! They can be stubborn, so it’s really great that you took her in for a check up.
Serving critical care rolled up in lettuce like bunny dolmades was very clever! I’m glad she loved the lettuce and is eating more now 🙂

Mine were terrible together — spayed female attacking younger neutered male — until one day I had to transport them both in the same carrier. Put them in the back seat and hoped for the best. They were COMPLETELY freaked out by the car ride, and were besties for the rest of their lives.

omg HOW have I gone 13 years of bunny-adoring without knowing the word “rabbittude”?? 😀 I love it!
I hadn’t thought about the minimum effective dose in my comment before — I agree, probably doesn’t make sense to go below that.
I’m not advocating this for others, but FWIW, Teddy’s been on super high doses for a year or two without obvious s…[Read more]

Thanks for mentioning about the water content in lettuce, if anything that makes me feel better. I got her green leaf lettuce last night and she’s been more than happy to eat it. I also kind of put critical care on the lettuce and rolled it up and was able to get a good bit of critical care in her that way, which was a godsend. She’s eating more…[Read more]
