Hello,
we have been having some issues with our 5 1/2 year old female lion head rabbit. She is often (at least once every 2 weeks) going into a stasis type of illness. She will stop eating and pooping and act very lethargic with a tight stomach. We are not sure what is causing this. We have had to take her to the vet to treat this multiple…[Read more]

I feed mine kale with no issues. Both Lacinato kale and purple kale. My girl is about 10-11 pounds and in her salad gets 2-3 pieces of either type, I switch off on days so she doesnt get bored. But kale and dandelion greens are her favorite haha.

White Rabbit replied to the topic Why is my bunny having seizures? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Yeah petit mal seizures can be hard to diagnose, generally your vet needs to see it happen in person or will request videos(going off what my doctor wanted, granted videos weren’t as clear back then haha). The distant gaze is generally telling for petit mal seizures as she could be having many but it very well could be EC causing it as stated…[Read more]

I don’t use it, but I know that Small Pet Select sells a pelleted paper litter, Recycled Pelleted Paper Cat Litter. It may be more expensive than Yesterday’s News, though. It only has a few reviews, but they are good ones.

That’s OK, Dana. Please don’t take my posts as complaining. I was making the test posts on request from Bam. When I followed up to let you know about the EDAdmin stuff and the thread not showing, that wasn’t complaining either; I was just trying to provide info, as I know you guys were working on it.
It’s OK even if you don’t fix it. I brought it…[Read more]

White rabbit, I am actually concerned about the petite mal seizures too. From what I’ve seen, one of her seizures she began trying to flip herself on her back and lost awareness of her surroundings and was very disoriented. Another one she had a head tilt and peed herself. Another one she couldn’t get up and started freaking out, she just sta…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Is using an essential oil diffuser safe for rabbits? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
This is a very old thread, but you definitely should not be using an essential oil diffuser around rabbits. Since this thread is old, I’m going to close it as you are unlikely to get responses from the OP and we ask members not to reply to old threads to avoid confusion.

Hmmm, this does sound like EC, but it also sounds like a very complex case. The tests are very often unreliable. Did you do the full 28 day course of medication? There are times when bun needs another round. Also, the damage done by the parasite is irreversible, so symptoms do not always resolve completely, but anti-inflammatories can help with…[Read more]

I’m happy that you finally have the vaccine now, I’ve been very worried about all those buns in areas where it’s not available yet.
Poor Miu… It’s so sad to see a bunny who’s so scared, because there’s usually nothing that you can do to cheer them up. I hope that she’ll become less scared over time.
I’m just back from the vet. Owen’s stasis…[Read more]

Owen!!@!@@!1!!!!@!!! You lazy, picky, spoilt fluffbutt! Well, at least the vet visit was cheap… 🤬
Long story short: his teeth are fine, his tummy is fine, his fur is fine, he’s a picture of bunny health. He even managed to gain weight (+ 60 g) on his diet of CC, and is now on the plump side of a healthy weight. (And that’s the thanks I get for…[Read more]

Thanks for the reply, on number 4 when I meant jumping there is nothing for him to actually jump on and his area is padded with towels and blankets, I meant more that he is binkying (which I cannot prevent) – that was more a queries about whether the lack of urination is normal, however, this morning (24hours post-op) he did finally pass an…[Read more]

Here is some general guidance provided by Wabbitwiki: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Spaying_and_neutering_rabbits#After_the_operation
- Typically no…. even for a neuter, a couple days of pain medication is recommended to have, at least on hand.

I have just had my male lion head neutered and have some questions (currently 12 hours post op) – next vet follow up is 2 days post-op
1. we were not given any medication to give my boy afterwards at all – when queried the vet told me this was not needed?? Is this normal?
2. he is over grooming a lot and I saw that his right incision was…[Read more]

This will likely have no correlation, but I used to have seizures as a kid do to an autoimmune issue, and I always felt tired for 24 hours after like all I wanted to do was sleep. The seizure basically took all my energy and could by why she is “floppy.” Sometimes. Im no vet but as someone who has had seizures there are two main types are petit…[Read more]

Okay I went down this massive rabbit hole (pun not intended). I have been using diffusers with eucalyptus oil in them for the past few days to keep my bunnies room smelling nice and just realised this could be so bad for them and then I found this thread. Did anyone find a safe way to keep bunny rooms smelling fresh?
