They say to assume that the disease is present within 150 miles of an outbreak.

I try to get locally sourced as much as I can. Should I stick to locally sourced veggies and only stop if there’s an outbreak in my area?

    No concern with Oxbow hay.

Are the veggies at the store sourced locally? If they come from an area not affected by the outbreak, then you should be OK. To be safe, you would want to make sure you know where they are being grown.

A little extra hay will definitely lead to a little extra poop! 😆

I don’t doubt that heat could cause him to feel unwell. Some bunnies have a higher tolerance than others, even if they are in an air conditioned house.

Another thought – Could he be chewing/eating something he shouldn’t. A secret drywall or carpet chew spot?

Forgot to update for quite some time, but they are officially a trio and have moved to their permanent location and slowly upgraded to the full size now! It definitely seemed like once the space was fully expanded and they had a ton of toys, Sage seemed to be far less frustrated and really doesn’t chase and antagonize anymore. He’s actually…[Read more]

    Hi all,

I’ve been away for a while (a very long while lol), but life has just been so busy, everything has just been flying by.

Several cases of RHDV-2 have been popping up in Ontario. I haven’t heard of any in my city, but there have been some in nearby cities. What I’m wondering is if I should stop feeding greens. I don’t know how the…[Read more]

Can confirm the teenage nips for sure, Dorian could be quite bad when he was little but I would be overly dramatic about it so he knew he had bitten too hardand he eventually learned to not do it or just grew outofit. Miu never was much of a nipper, she will nudge you with her nose and dig at you if that didn’t work.  She was also a couple months…[Read more]

Oh could heat gave triggered it? We had a couple of days where it skirted around 80F inside? Dorian is finally done molting other than the area around his tail, just in time for Miu to start. At least she’s not as sensitive about being plucked or brushed. As long as she’s got a snack she couldn’t care less.

Its alway more difficult to give advice to an  excellent bun owner like you 😂 Hay (and fresh grass) is always the most important component of of a bun’s diet. Hopefully you can forage some fresh pesticide-free grass now that the vaccine has taken hold. The RVHD-viruses are more or less endemic where I am, but since we got the vaccines back in…[Read more]

I thought about diet, but as Miu is a bit of a picky princess and I have not been foraging for their greens due to wanting them fully vaccinated first, it’s been pretty consistent. Just mixed greens with occasional store bought dandelion. They don’t get that treats often. Pellets are same oxbow brand he got once I switched him to adult food. Maybe…[Read more]

I think it’s fully normal and nothing to worry about. As always, keep an eye on appetite and poop -of course 😃

It’s good that your bun has an enclosure to spend the night in. It’s generally beneficial for buns to spend part of their time in a (good-sized) cage or enclosure. That way they get to be in environment that they feel in control of. You…[Read more]

Just keep observing him. A spook in the middle of the night is quite common with rabbits. They hear frequences we cant hear, they pick up scents we have no chance of picking up on. It’s nothing supernatural or weird about it, it’s just how rabbits function.

Rabbits can however hurt themselves if/when they panick. They can hurt a limb or a claw…[Read more]

Sorry just to clarify; the running was because he was scared. After he came out of cage, he was still spooked and was running everywhere out of fear.

Hi there! My roughly two year old bunny had a really dangerous, scary spook last night. Pretty much ever since we’ve had him, we would put him in his cage during the middle of the night. He doesn’t mind it at all, since it’s the size of a large rabbit playpen.

In the middle of the night, a couple hours after we put him in, he started runni…[Read more]

It is very good that you’re being so vigilant. Knowing one’s bun normal routines and little quirks is the best thing when it comes to spotting if/when sth isn’tcompletely right early. Early detection of a problem is very important with buns, because as prey animals, they won’t show heavy duty symptoms until whatever isn’t right has become sth really wrong.
