Ellie from The Netherlands started the topic Three fights today, Molly is frightened of Owen in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years ago

Out of the blue Owen and Molly had a fight this morning. I wasn’t awake yet, but Bas broke up the fight quickly by picking up the first bunny that he could reach. Nobody was hurt, but their cardboard hiding box was overturned, toys were scattered and there was fur everywhere.

When we put Owen back in the pen after a couple of minutes they were…[Read more]

If you’re struggling with medicating, I’ve had good luck with the “sit” method. Basically, you sit on your knees and sandwich bunny in between your legs. Make sure to tuck your feet in so they can’t back up. Then your hands are free to administer meds, critical care, etc.

I’m looking at the photos. I think the swelling has gone down too.

We can probably help you with that. Are you using the “Add Media” button?

Depending on your current house bunny’s personality, they may actually help him come out of his shell a bit. Once he has been given the all clear and you start introducing him to your current bunny (I assume you are hoping to bond them), he may start to trust you more if he…[Read more]

Pin worms are very common and not usually a cause for concern. Sometimes though, they can get out of control and there will be too many of them. In this scenario, the bunny will experience GI upset. If the worms are affecting his eating/pooping, then they should be treated. I’m a little surprised that the vet would say that without seeing the…[Read more]

The worms will die very soon after the poop exits the rabbit, so they will not actively move. I would present these poos to the vet for them to take a look. Regardless of what the poops used to look like, if they now look different with white stuff in it, that should be checked out.

Either of Bam’s suggestions would work. Boys tend to heal pretty fast though. A quick peek should do just to make sure nothing looks off.

    Yes, this is strange.

I too love the scent of good hay. I think it might be an acquired taste. Hay should smell fresh and mildly aromatic,  reminiscent of fine green tea. It’s difficult to describe, but its a benevolent scent, so to speak.

Bam replied to the topic Up and down stasis recovery in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years ago

The up and down thing is actually common in stasis. This is one of the very frustrating aspects of stasis recovery. It can feel like 2 steps forward and 3 steps back  then 3 steps forwards and one back again, and again. The important thing here is to not try to rush things.

Metacam can make a bun a bit drowsy. Not as drowsy as opioids, but still…[Read more]

    Hey guy!
One of my poor babies is dealing with stasis. Lady has had it a couple times but poor Tramp has it now and his recovery is not anything like hers, which is throwing me.

In Lady’s recovery, she’s always  into veggies first, then pellets, then hay and she eats steadily more during recovery. Tramp on the other hand, has eaten a fair amou…[Read more]

This is very weird and not really consistent with a dental problem, because it has changed side.

My step mom called the vet for me and they said since they couldn’t find anything before it most likely isn’t worms. Least that’s what my step mom said but she seemed kind of annoyed when I asked her to call and see what they say. So I don’t know if she was lying or not.

It looked something like that. But it was a pure bright white and not moving. Almost like rice but I don’t give the rabbits rice.
