Hello all,

It has been quite a long time since I’ve been on this forum (a few years I think) and a lot has changed.

Several months ago my beautiful baby Esther stopped eating. I knew it was different than all the other times, it was like she had no fight left in her. We br…[Read more] -

Adam replied to the topic My Daughter's Bunny Died Last Night and I don't know if I caused it in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 1 year, 6 months ago
My boy died before he reached 3, just sudden heart attack. I had a camera in the bunny room and I watched it happen after I found him. I googled some and found that this is surprisingly common, and with male rabbits specifically.

I moved this out of the Read Only section so people will see it.
I agree that there is very little actual chocolate in a regular Hershey milk chocolate bar. Also, rabbits (and mice and rats) need a higher dose than a cat or dog in order for it to be harmful. This is because they can metabolize theobromine much faster than a cat or dog. So it…[Read more]

I agree the amount is concerning, and chocolate is very dangerous for buns, but on the other hand there is very little actual chocolate in Hersheys milk chocolate (if it was just a standard type of hershey bar)… can you call the animal poison control line to have them advise?
If you are in the USA, here is the ASPCA poison control line:
“The…[Read more]

I have an update for anyone who might have been curious about this topic. We just saw the vet for a minor unrelated issue and I asked about the senior pellets and she thought it was a good idea to switch them because she says kidney issues can be common in older rabbits and these pellets are good for that. She’s an exotic specialist with an extra…[Read more]

How are your buns doing now? Normally you’d see symptoms of theobromine poisoning within 6-12 hours.
This is a veterinary emergency.
The only thing you can do hourself at home is to make sure the rabbits are in a very calm environment. No people running around, no shouting or loud music etc. Give hay and water. Don’t chase them around.
Milk…[Read more]

So, I have 5 rabbits. 2 of them are currently separated from the other three in my room. And today, I was cleaning the other three bunnies room from 10 to 3 PM. And only around 9 PM did I notice something. I had a 25 piece Hersheys chocolate bar up on my dresser. Now, my dresser is quite high. And they usually keep to themselves when it comes to…[Read more]

Those wide heavy ears suggest there might be a little bit of lop in there. Also, the dewlap means it’s most likely a girl. I would say full grown adult, but not a senior.
