Aww poor little guy đ How long has it been like this?
I wonder if you could try some calming herbs or rescue remedy?
perhaps also a bit of positive association with the fence? for example, if you feed him his salad and pellets only when the cage is closed, but then open it right back up again?
I also wonder if he will settle again in time,…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Should she be spayed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 11 months ago
It isn’t too late! There is a high chance that she may already have some cancer, but it can be removed in the spay surgery. At the rescue I volunteered at we had a 7 year old rabbit come in that was unspayed. She had a lot of cancer all throughout her uterus and ovaries, but they were able to remove it and she did very well afterwards. Another…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Rabbit acting slow after we went on vacation in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 11 months ago
It could be a combination of things… is she eating and pooping ok? Is she showing any other signs of pain? She could have also gotten a bit dehydrated.
If she’s eating and pooping and not showing signs of pain, then I think it would be OK to continue to monitor. But if she seems to be getting worse, and/or stops eating or poops get smaller and…[Read more]

We went away for a week, and we had a sitter come feed our bun once a day. Now she is acting very slow and not like herself at all.
we think it could be:1: that pellets were given first, so bun ate the pellets when being super hungry which messed up her digestion, creating pain or something and giving her stress.
2: just stress from us being…[Read more]

We let them out for a short time, and it’s very clear that Molly is scared of Owen. If there’s not a fence she thumps when she sees him and gives a little meep.
Owen is very sulky and won’t take treats đ

Yes, we did think that the time at the bonder was short, but we thought that a new space would cement their relationship.
I’ll have to give it a little break for a week, because I heard that Bas will be away for his work again. I’m in no condition to break up two fighting bunnies.

He is used to be free range most of the time, if there’s a gate/fence on his way, he just gets really annoyed. But I don’t think the problem is space per se, as before we had to leave him for a night at the clinic, there was no issue whatsoever. he knew in the evening that it’s time to get in, have snack and got to sleep. I suspect he got scared…[Read more]

Could you put an x-pen fence around the cage? Not sure, but maybe it would maybe make him feel less trapped if he has a bit more room.

Aww, so sorry. That’s rough. I have no real experience with bonding outside of Dorian and Miu, but wondering if when they were at the borders they were just stressed enough not to bicker, but now they are back home they are picking up their old habits? Do you have a friends you can try at, or some new space? Or maybe just take a break for a bit…[Read more]

@LBJ10, so they are on the ground kept in place be your legs? That might work well for meds with Miu as the she will not be off the ground at all. How do you trim back feet nails though? Thanks!

Hi, we have had happy bunnies in the family for over 17 years, so I’m not new regarding their behaviour and needs. But I’m facing something new at the moment and was wondering if anyone else has been through this and would have suggestions.

I really really hope that it’s just puberty. Molly seems to struggle with her self-esteem: one moment she acts all confident and she demands grooming, the next she’s a little bundle of nerves. She’s been demanding grooming from Owen a lot lately, and I think that she met Owen’s limits today.
The change in behaviour after separating them by a…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Should she be spayed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 12 months ago
It isn’t too late to spay her. At age 5 though, she likely already has changes in her uterus. Cancer can start forming by age 3 or 4, but it can often take awhile before it progresses. By spaying her now, you are eliminating the possibility that her life being cut short. I’m not trying to scare you. Her developing cancer isn’t a 100% for sure…[Read more]
