Its quite correct that pine shavings shouldnt be used for rabbit! Pine wood stove pellets are however kiln dried so the phenols and other compounds are very much reduced ( they go off as vapours during the hear-treatment).

I’ve heard of using untreated would stove pellets for them and I might try that, however i’m not sure I feel comfortable using pine shavings for them. I’ve read  alot of articles saying they aren’t safe for rabbits. You may want to reconsider not using them for your buns.

Bunston used to tunnel inside my box spring (he wasn’t allowed in my bedroom but if someone accidentally left the door open he would go straight in). Once my roommate was pet-sitting and had to scoop him out with the broom!

Yes, I agree with others and LBJ10… I once was worried about dark brown urine and ended up seeing my bun wee a light yellow which I thought was odd so I waited a little while before cleaning it up and it indeed turned bown! My bunnies have occasionally done this, sometimes from a sitting position which i think is just them stretching weirdly. But when they do this while lying down it usually means they are tummy pressing due to gas.

Connecting the dots with your other thread, I think using some litter in your litter pans will solve this problem!

I (and many others) use pine pellet litter (sold as horse stall pellets, wood stove pellets, or feline pine). It is very absorbent!

Changing the litter every two days is normal, and eating a lot of hay will cause a bun to drink a lot of water (both good things!). She sounds healthy to me!

It’s more of a concern when a bun is peeing a lot and NOT drinking (kidney problems), or drinking excessively but not eating hay (which can indicate a dental problem).
