I’m sorry you had to let him go. Judging by what you’ve written here now and before, it was his time.
I have been in a somewhat similar situation. What helped me was to know that I did everything I could. I spared no effort nor any expense. Me and my bun were a team. A very small team, but still a great team.
You loved your bun. We cant know of…[Read more]

I just gave my rabbit metaclopramide at the same time as syringe feeding critical care. Now I read sometbing that says not to give it with food. Will she be okay? Could this do something bad to her? The vet never told me that it couldnt be given with food

I am so very sorry. I regret I dont have advice on how to cope. 🙁 I just wanted to say I empathise so much and acknowledge the depth of your grief. It can be hard for to explain it to people in “real life”.
We want to do so much for our little fur companions and make it alright for them. It’s really hard to accept when we have to let them go…[Read more]

Thanks, both. It was definitely scab-like, as opposed to sawdust sticking to them. I’ve been checking them every day since the post and there’s no more evidence of it, but a little bit of staining around that area (very very minor). The sawdust shavings are fairly large, and like you mentioned, Dana, I do the same where I place a good pile of hay…[Read more]

She still wont eat, I’m not sure what to do. I thought the pain meds would be helping by now. I gave her a little bit of simethicone an hour ago but she’s in the exact same spot now as when I gave it to her and none of the food in front of her is gone.

I know the decision was very difficult, it was done though out of love and was the final act of that love and bond shared. You did everything you could for him, please don’t ever feel guilty or that you gave up on him, as you did everything you could for him and to help him. He is no longer ill now, I once felt much the same, but what helps me is…[Read more]

I’ve posted on here a few times recently and I’m hoping you guys can help me move past this because I feel so guilty. I made the decision to put my little guy to sleep after 3 years of continuous health issues.
He’s had surgery for abscesses in his jaw, which wasn’t successful because the damage was extensive. He’s been on weekly penicilli…[Read more]

She’s supposed to get 0.2 ml of metacam every 24 hours and 0.1 ml of baytril the antibiotic every 24 hrs. This seems like such a tiny amount? If any of you have been in this situation, how much were you told to give? I know the vet knows more than I do, I just worry. She still hasnt ate yet but we’ve only been home about half an hour so it may…[Read more]

In most cases, the rabbit will be fine, especially if it wasn’t an active wire and they didn’t keep monching and eat a lot of the wire material. Simply monitor for the next couple hours to ensure your rabbit isn’t showing any signs of pain or distress.

My rabbit just chewed through my switch charger. It was plugged in to the wall, but the other end of the cable wasn’t plugged in to the switch, so it wasn’t actively charging anything. Is he going to be okay? He ate a treat and is still hopping around like normal.

Update: Since it wasnt an actual scheduled appointment we waited for almost 2 hours to see the vet. Finally when we got in, she checked her and said she wasn’t in stasis yet because she could hear gurgles in her belly. She gave me some gut motility meds, metacam, and antibiotics. I already have some fluids at home so she told me to go ahead and…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic BUNNY INCISOR REMOVAL in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 9 months ago
When a bun has really severe malocclusion (tooth misalignment), incisor removal is often the way to go, otherwise they need constant dental trims. I do know of several buns who had their incisors extracted and they got along just fine. All we had to do was chop their salads up into smaller pieces so it was easier for them to handle. If the vet is…[Read more]

Thank you so much Dana! I really like the idea of using the fan for white noise. I get what you mean about daily free roaming being potentially better than 100% free roaming. They are always super excited in the beginning and then they just chill out haha.

I give my two a Sherwood Digestive Support every night. They love them.
Brushing Boo, unless absolutely necessary, would not be worth it. Our bond would be destroyed.
Knock on wood, never had any tummy troubles.
Hope your bun is feeling better.

IMG_5533 IMG_5531Hi recently I noticed my bunny, bubbles, wasn’t able to close her mouth. I took her to a vet but unfortunately they “didn’t know what to do” and prescribed us unnecessary medication. Thankfully, i came across a vet on tiktok who works with exotic animals including bunnies. I reached out to him and he told me she has somethi…[Read more] -

It’s actually really good that they still like each other through the fence, and they do look good together during that video for now, but you are right in that this will likely escalate to more serious scuffles. But…[Read more]
