I’m sorry that I don’t have anything insightful to say, that will make your situation better. I just wanted to say condolences on your loss, and I’m so sorry. It is clear you loved your bunny so much. I think the good thing is you can know that your bunny clearly had someone who loved him very much and had a good life. And that’s a wonderful thing.

When my bun was on metoclopramide and CC for an extended period of time, I  sometimes gave it with food, sometimes without. My vet never specified. Everything went well. Metoclopramide is typically given every 6-8 hours during the day (buns need to rest during the night unless your vet tells you to do meds round the clock).

@talesOfTybalt – did your rabbit Freya seem put off by the water after you did this? I wonder how overpowering the taste is to them. How much did you put in? Just a few drops?

We cannot really say what the bun needs because we are not vets, but the best thing to do would be to get a second opinion from an exotics vet with dental experience. I’m not familiar with jar surgeries to correct alignment in rabbits.

I’m sure your bun will be fine! Just be sure to get some cord protectors or keep them out of reach in the future.

Have you syringe fed her? Often syringe feeding is necessary to get things going again.

That is a very low dose of metacam… I would give them a call back and say she isn’t responding to that dose.

Hmm I’ve never heard not to give it with food. Since it’s used to treat stasis and often paired with syringe feeding, it doesn’t make sense that you wouldn’t want to give it would food?

Safest thing would be to give the vet a ring and double check though (and report back!).

Usually elizabethian collars are not used with dental issues, but i imagine if the bun is scratching at an open wound it may be necessary. Usually they are only used if really needed, so owners are instructed to watch the bun carefully. Good pain management helps a lot.

My vet is telling me they may need to do surgery on her jaw because of the alignment. However I figured it was best to remove the incisors as well as a vet I spoke to online.
