Budja’s is going in for surgery tomorrow thank god, I called them and explained how she is literally trying to spit out her medicine going on/off pellets water etc…. I was on a cancellation list but somehow they got me in sooner for her due to the situation going on. Keeping my fingers crossed right now. I just want to see her get better and eat…[Read more]

For reference (in case that site ever goes down again or you want to double check your meds), I’ve also used this more generic dosage calculator. It works the same way, you just enter in the concentration you have, the patient weight, and the desired dose in mg/kg.

That’s great she drank some water and the vet knew about buns! I’m sure she’ll be feeling better soon.

Thanks so much for your responses both!

Bam that link now works for me so thats great.

Update: my paranoia got the better of me and i took her to the ER vet. The vet was reasonably knowledgeable in rabbits and couldn’t feel a blockage and could hear some little gut sounds. She administered subq fluids, gut stimiulant and an anti sickness med for…[Read more]

Hmm the links aren’t working for me either but I think we can figure something out. Do you know how much she weighs? There is a wide range of dosages per kg rabbit weight depending on what the issue is and what the vet prescribes. Of course I can’t advise you to give a med without the vet’s approval… but medirabbit says “0.3-0.6 mg/kg, up to 1.5…[Read more]

Thank you for the update! I’m so glad you’re feeling better now! Getting heating and hot water back must be such a relief. I hope you’ll soon be all well again!

    Hello

Nellie has stopped eating, I’m really not sure why but that is usually the way. I have administered a first dose of smithecone (a little expired), syring fed a couple ml of water and given belly rubs. I’m not sure how to work out how much metacam to give her if she doesn’t perk up after another dose of smithecone and belly rubs. I have…[Read more]

Just an update… I’m feeling a lot better today although I’m still feeling icky. I’ve been fighting through it I’m able to go out now. I haven’t managed to eat much today my belly just hasn’t been up to it today. I’m still drinking plenty of fluids. My heating and hot water is back which has been a great help.

I still feel a shortness of breath…[Read more]

Aww poor baby. How long have you had her? It can take a bit of experimenting to find toys that bunnies actually like. Many of the toys that look super cute are completely ignored by my rabbits! They tend to like things they can chew on. Other buns like to throw things around, so baby keys and stacking cups are fun for them. My bun that loved…[Read more]

    hey everyone,

I noticed that Brownie doesn’t really touch her toys. Before we adopted her, she was living in a really tiny cage for 4 years with only one tiny toy. I was wondering if this may be the reason why brownie doesn’t seem to interested in toys as her brain wasn’t very stimulated last time. I went to get many different toys for her, and…[Read more]

My bunny absolutely loves American pet dinner’s hay, and goes crazy for it. The batch that we just bought was extremely prickly though, so not all hay from them may have the same quality. However, if it’s not available, I also noticed that sprinkling some herbs like flowers or leaves over the hay encourages my bunny to eat more hay.

She prefers to keep her legs tucked in when lying down but she’s about 60cm that way sooo the medium carrier it is, thanks!

Reading the internet is making me terrified so I’m asking you lovely people for advice. 2 weeks ago, I brought Juniper to the emergency vet because he had a grape sized lump under his jaw, which showed up overnight. The vet said it looked like an abscess and prescribed oral antibiotics so it would not grow until I get him to a vet.

    Then two days…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your time and thoughts! I’m going to try adding a second box, and if that doesn’t seem to be working after a few days, try potty breaks/rewards. I scheduled his consultation for neutering this morning, so we’ll be ready to roll when the time comes. Thanks again!

Small Pet Select is sold online only from their website.  I don’t know if they deliver to Canada or not, or how expensive that would be.  American Pet Diner is sold at Petco, both online and in stores, if you have those in Canada.  It seems like there would be some stores or places in Canada that have second or third cutting timothy hay.  I hop…[Read more]

Thanks for all your input! I’m in Canada so some of the brands mentioned are not available. I’m looking for a local farm that offers timothy hay (possibly 2nd cutting) in bales. I spent the whole afternoon looking and didn’t get anywhere!

My bun wastes a LOT of hay too, and what I’ve been doing that helps a little is taking all the wasted hay out of her pen and putting it in a cardboard box. When she comes out of her pen to play she likes to sit in the box and eat. Then when I refill her hay I give her a handful of the old hay and a small amount of new hay sprinkled on top. When I…[Read more]

Is his litter box easy to jump into and “enticing”? I suspect that this is mostly because he isn’t neutered yet, but you can encourage him to use his box my making it “appealing”. Carefresh litter is really popular for litter training because it’s soft. Adding a nice fluffy hay layer on top and only providing hay in the litter boxes also helps…[Read more]
