Awww, Miu is so brave and making such good progress! And it does take getting used to a bunny who doesn’t need a carpet! Our Molly walks into the kitchen now… 😯

Free-roaming goes in small steps and doesn’t happen right from the start. Especially if they’re young they’re still very destructive, and some bunnies may never become free-roamers. Others can free-roam but go back to their pen at night. And all of that’s okay.

Glad to hear that the pain meds are doing something for him. It’s good that you noticed that he doesn’t purr anymore, it’s very telling. It’s the most awful decision that you have to make for your pet, but giving them dignity and sparing them suffering is the best you can do. I’m hoping that he’ll have some good days still, our thoughts are with you.

Oh interesting! I didn’t know it was harder on their stomachs than the antibiotics. She’s on 100mg/ml of Chloramphenicol 2x/day. The c-grip hold that you all told me about works phenomenally for the actual administration, but getting her to actually come out to get her meds is more difficult. She does live with two other bunnies. It just doesn’t look like a bite  wound to me. The skin is very clean.

Does she live with other buns? Could another bun have nipped a little chunk of fur away?

The skin underneath looks healthy.

Gut slow-downs can have some ups and downs in recovery. If his hay consumption and poops have slowed again, you should syringe feed him and give him another round of metacam.

Sometimes you may get a bad batch of hay that the bun doesnt like for some reason, so trying a dif hay might be good to do as well.

Penicillin shots are generally harder on the stomach than a bun-safe oral antibiotics. I’m not too sure about their use in treating syphilis, which antibiotic is Pixie on?

I agree, some buns take longer to recover. My dental bun Yohio needed a cpl of days after his first burr before he went back to eating normally. He recovered a lot quicker after his later burrs. 1 year old buns have a TON of energy, so even if you are providing lots of toys they can still get “stuck” on one thing.
