what about getting a  deeper litter box so that when she does dig it doesn’t make such a mess?

For a while I was using a concrete mixing tub (they sell them at hardware stores) as a litter box and it was deep enough that they couldnt push the litter out even when they dug around. Some people also use those covered cat boxes but I always worry…[Read more]

My thing with the screens is when I tried them it caused cinnimon to have sore hocks. I have tried to redirect the digging with forage mats, sea grass mats, Timothy mats, and oxbow digging mat. This bunny is just impossible 😣

When one of my buns was a baby she managed to slip through the bars of a standard x-pen. I was absolutely shocked, I hadn’t realised how tiny she was when you squashed down all the fur! To prevent it happening again, I just zip tied a finer mesh to the bottom of the pen. I had it on hand so it was a free and easy fix, but in your case it may be…[Read more]

In the olden days, when female castrations were risky and few vets performed them, the constellation intact die/castrated buck were fairly common.

How well the bonding works will depend a lot on the individual rabbits and their personalities. The bond is likely to be less sturdy than a bond between two de-sexed individuals. Sometimes you dont…[Read more]

From what i’ve seen it is possible, but it will be a lot harder. I would say its worth a shot though!

That sounds like a good plan to me!

Hmmm, I agree you may want to get a second opinion on getting her spayed. If she is constantly needing invasive dental procedures she may not be the best candidate for bonding anyway, as it is important that both rabbits are in good health for bonding.

That said, it used to be more common for bonds like this to be attempted, but I agree with…[Read more]

Penicillin when injected is safe, given the proper dosage of course. If you have any hesitancy around the competency of your vet, then you can actively search for another and discuss the treatment plan prescribed (but continue the current, as others have said).

Penicillin for two weeks on its own is not “harmful” — I’ve done 21 days of PenG…[Read more]

The bond between a fixed and unfixed rabbit is inherently less stable than one between two fixed rabbits — hormones influence not only the female, but also the neutered male, and you cannot see or predict how hormones may influence behaviors.

I do disagree with the vet — the high risk of uterine cancer (and its consequences) is very dangerous…[Read more]

    Hello everyone,

I have a 6 mth old neutered male house bunny. I sourced him a companion (previous hutch bunny/breeding female) she is 3 yrs old. I have been to the vets and he has recommended that I don’t neuter her due to reoccurring teeth treatment he believes it’s too much stress for her. I have had her for 4 weeks now.

So my 2 lovely bunnies…[Read more]

I haven’t done bonding sessions since the fight. I think I’ll wait at least a week for cuts to heal before trying again. Then I’ll tentatively see if we can pick up where we left off in the bonding process, or if we need to start over.

They’re separated in an L-shaped room right now, but there’s a space/angle where they can still see each other.…[Read more]

You can try rinsing it with saline (I use eye wash for humans, plain saline, without borax).

Vets often recommend a warm (but not hot, obviously) compress on the eye. Chamomille has some antiseptic properties. The rabbit might find a warm compress soothing.

Hi, I noticed this morning that my bunny has some redness around the left eye. Her right eye is completely clean. I’m not sure if it’s something serious but I will be taking her to the vet. Is there something I can do before the vet? I’ve read that some bunny owners put chamomile tea bags to calm the irritation, i don’t know if I should give it a…[Read more]

Rabbits can die if they get the wrong antibiotics or a massiv overdose. There are many types of rabbit-safe antibiotics though, and penicillin is rabbit safe if given by injections. Here is Medirabbit’s list of rabbit safe antibiotics: Safe Antibiotics (medirabbit.com)

Thanks for your reply. I haven’t seen any signs of that, and honestly I don’t know the signs of gas pain. He is, however, having super dry poops ever since staring the medications. He is getting Penicillin by injection, but sometimes I’m scared of injecting it wrong. Honestly though, I’m just worried because on the reviews for the vet doctor,…[Read more]
