Cat1019 started the topic Standlee Brand compared to Oxbow ? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 8 months ago
I was just curious if anyone has used Oxbow and Standlee Brand Hay and Pellets? How do they compare? I’d love to know what brands of Pellets and Hay you recommend. I’m looking for more affordable yet good quality Hay and Pellets. I live in the USA in the Midwest Region.

I’m so sorry you lost Barney.
I dont think your vets sent him home to die. They treated the blockage, and once his intestines were working again, they released him.
This doesnt mean there was no connection between the blockage and his passing. I generally believe vets really want the best for their animal patients, but even assuming they’re only…[Read more]

I’m going to guess the hay that is currently available is a different cutting and it just tastes different. I agree with Wick. Try not the reinforce picky behavior.

I would give a little more time with a new bag and just leave it out there for her. While it’s important to eat hay, rabbits aren’t eating it 24/7 nor is it expected that they’ll eat it every waking moment either. Continuing to switch hays to appease her taste (which is much more attuned since rabbits have better senses in that department than we…[Read more]

The vet did tests and x-rays and stuff but never mentioned anything more than the fact that Barney was going in GI stasis and there was gas built up in the GI tract so if there was something else going on, the vet wasn’t able to find and properly diagnose it and in his final moments he was showing signs that he was in quite a bit of pain and after…[Read more]

Okay I will have to give that a go lol I did try mixing it with the banana baby food jar/carrot jar in the past but no go I’m sorry about your bun, I’ve been reading up here and there about different treatments and use of penicillin G injections do seem pretty promising, I’m wondering if it is just down to a bad tooth that was missed or has…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss and that you had to experience such a traumatic passing. 🙁
It is thought that when they scream in the final moments like that they have already lost consciousness, so it may be slightly comforting that he was probably not in a great deal of pain.
Did you discuss this with your vet? I know he has already been cremated,…[Read more]

Yes he will be fine! I’ve often had to take my buns to a pet sitter’s house for anywhere from one to three weeks. They are much more adaptable than you’d expect. 🙂

It’s only an hour each way. As long as you keep the setup the same, he should be OK staying there for 3 weeks and then going back.

And he’d be fine moving back up here after the 3 weeks are over? Sorry, just double checking to make sure i don’t misinterpret!
