I know this is frustrating. Honestly, when we think of less hay consumption, we think of one of two scenarios. One is the hay is a bad batch and bunny simply doesn’t like it. Believe me, I have been there! There is just something off about the hay and it is unappetizing. The other scenario, of course, is a dental issue. Sometimes bunnies will get…[Read more]

I have no idea why some buns are obsessed with cat litter boxes🙄. Our bunny Georgia is the same way.
The biggest concern would be the possibility of diseases from the kitty waste in the box. And the chance of him getting something icky stuck to his feet and ingesting it while grooming. I know traditional cat litter is also somewhat dusty, so I’m…[Read more]

I have not been active on this forum for a long while, but on returning today saw this thread. I am truly sorry to read about Luna, who as others have already said, was a beautiful bunny. So although I am posting rather late, I send you my heartfelt condolences.
Run free, dear Luna, until the day when your special human will rejoin you!

I do like moderator Wick. It’s enrichment plus it tends to slow eating (less risk of inhaling pellets).
My buns are mainly interested in tearing up cardboard boxes, so I give them cardboard boxes when I’ve ordered stuff that comes in a box.
They also like making holes in (cheap) fleece blankets, but the blankets need to be attached to…[Read more]

Wick is like this. If plausible, what I do is break up his small amount of daily pellets into smaller portions and will hide/scatter them around throughout the day.

I’ve stuffed brown paper lunchbags with hay and treats and tied them off with natural hemp rope. They love destroying them and rummaging for food. I’ve also done this with toilet paper tubes.
I think Small Pet Select makes a cord protector. It may be made out of a little more bun/pet friendly material. You could trim sections off for him to play…[Read more]

What about a treat ball (to put pellets in)? Or another type of puzzle toy? My bunny loves his puzzle toys. He’s not as enthusiastic about the stacking cups, but he will pull them apart if I put pellets in there.

And I do not mean chew – I mean eat. If it isnt a borderline treat, he isn’t interested.
For reference, he loves the Oxbow lollipops, timbells, and any brand of timothy sticks. Hates things like apple sticks, those dangling chew toys, that kinda thing.
In terms of bunstruction, he greatly enjoys eating cords and baseboards, as well as napping in…[Read more]

Lol! Yeah, it’s almost impressive how much fur they can shed and not be bald. :p
Napoloeon is that way about his butt tufts. He is a Dwarf lionhead, but I swear he looks much bigger because he always has an extra fluffy butt.
I can sometimes pluck them, but usually once he figures out whats going on, he runs lol. I’ve started setting him on the…[Read more]

You could, but it won’t last long. Haha! Yeah, I mostly have to resort to holding him with the Love Gloves on and just force him to be petted/groomed. Otherwise he doesn’t sit still for any of it. To be honest, I don’t think it matters what it is. Everything seems to pull his fur and he just doesn’t like it.

What did you do in that situation?
I have to take Gustavo to the vet for a “sani shave” regularly, should I ask them to give him a good brush down at the same appointment if none of the other grooming methods work?

Raelinn & Gus replied to the topic Tips for brushing a bun who hates being brushed? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Yes, he lets me pluck tufts by hand for the most part – as long as he is getting those head pats while I do it!
I joke that his butt is like another world wonder because of how badly he sheds there, plucking tufts is just not getting the job done. I will try a lint roller and the glove! Thank you for the advice! 🙂
He doesn’t appreciate his butt…[Read more]

I feel your pain. Brush – nope. Lint roller – nope. Love Glove – Oh hell no. Plucking – Only if I sneak it and then I only get a single tuft.

BrunosMama replied to the topic Tips for brushing a bun who hates being brushed? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Some buns with tolerate a lint roller. If his fur is shedding, this usually works pretty well because it won’t stick to the “attached” fur. I have had buns it worked like a charm for, others hated it more than being brushed. My one poor bun, Cinnabon, was not a good candidate for lint rollers, because for some reason, they just glued to his fur.…[Read more]

Hi all,
I recently made the goal to begin brushing Gus after realizing he was starting to get a mini mat on his back.
He has never had mats anywhere outside of the groin, which we go to the vet for, so I had figured brushing wasn’t necessary. Seeing the mat made me realize it is, at least now, important to brush him.
Thing is, he hates it,…[Read more]

Yep, that’s the one for the Meridian clippers.
This is the Wahl one I used (or similar – I had gotten it from a local farm supply store, but this one seems to be the same):
