I feel like it’s been a while! The more chatty side of the forum seems to have died down and I am not the best instigator since I get busy and miss replies! Still how is everyone doing?
This forum was such a godsend when I first got Dorian and then especially bonding with Miu! They are both doing well even if Miu is 2 weeks out of liver lobe…[Read more]

@lBJ10 – I think she had a mild infection (excess bacteria) based on the blood panel prior to surgery. I did call vet but receptionist basically told me their vets do not make mistakes, which is not realistic. She really did not want to put me through to an actual vet or even vet assistant. I know from experience that they do. It’s an emergency…[Read more]

I’m sorry Miu had to go through that. Poor thing. Are the antibiotics just as a preventative? Or are they for an actual infection? Antibiotic course lengths can vary by type of antibiotic, and what they are being used for.

Hello!
Little Miu had liver lobe torsion and had to have surgery. She is recovering like a champ. After Dorian’s surgery where they mistakenly thought he might have it and his slower recovery I was really relieved. Though I swear these buns need to chill with the medical emergencies!
Anyway my question is about the length of time for her to t…[Read more]

BrunosMama replied to the topic Gus barely eats hay, but is scarfing down everything else? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 weeks, 3 days ago
It wouldn’t hurt to try a new type of hay to see if piques his interest. I think Oxbow (or other hay suppliers) may even sell a “sampler” or variety pack on Amazon. I know I have gotten small bags of Oxbow hay that were approximately $4-$6, but they were different varieties than the standard Timothy that ours eat, so I was able to add some to the…[Read more]

Unfortunately, if more desirable foods are readily available, many bunnies will opt for that over hay. It’s generally recommended that you decrease pellets in order to encourage hay eating. That being said, his reduced interest in hay could be any number of things. There is always the possibility of it being a teeth issue since hay is often the…[Read more]

Hello again!
I would like to stress that Gus is currently eating regularly, mainly due to the fact I have begun splitting up his breakfast after noticing he isn’t really interested in hay.
He will eat it once in awhile, as in a few times a day, but nothing near how much he used to. It was kind of a steady decline in interest that I noticed…[Read more]

Raelinn & Gus replied to the topic Looking for ideas on how to make my bed & desk area bunny accessible in the forum DIET & CARE 3 weeks, 3 days ago
If I go the carpeted ramp/ottoman route as suggested, I will definitely invest in cord protectors all around for sure – both for Gus’ safety and my computer’s safety haha. I’m thinking of getting one that is slightly lower than my desk, still within reaching distance, so he would have to jump up to get onto the desk itself.
I agree that petting…[Read more]

Hey!
Yes, we did make it to our destination with all paws and whiskers intact!
Full disclosure, I couldn’t handle the stress of the drive and made it about 4 states over before I just bought plane tickets – had to buy two extra for the kitties. They all did very well on the plane, though I will admit Gus might have chewed a hole in a hotel wall…[Read more]

A carpeted (ie non-slippy) ramp is a great idea. It obviously can’t be too steep and it might take some time for him to try it out -buns can be like that, but he most likely will, eventually.
Beware though, if you do stuff on your desk on a computer or anything else that has powered electrical cords, it could get risky, or at least inconvenient…[Read more]

It does sound great, your buns feel no need to hide, they feel safe and love hanging out with you!
The hideys still serve a purpose though, rabbits like to know there are hiding spots should they ever need them.

Awww! It just sounds like your bunnies would rather hang out with their hoom than in their hidey spots. 🙂 They must feel very safe and comfortable around you. 🙂

Hello!
I’m glad to hear it sounds like you made your long car journey with Gus and kitties successfully. 🙂
Its sweet he is so attached to you! Yes, some bunnies really do seem to prefer their human over other buns.
I was also thinking of a ramp or the little pet stairs. You could try a small footstool/ottoman type thing beside your desk so its…[Read more]

Well, maybe they just like being out in the open. I don’t think a lack of hiding is necessarily a bad thing. Seems like they are super comfortable.

Oh yes, tunnels boxes, castles, tables, etc. all 2 or more exits. They also seem to have a need to be by my feet all the time.

How high are we talking? Could you get one of those “houses” and put a ramp next to it so he can get up? My bunnies would readily go up a carpeted ramp.

Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a 5 year old male lop, Gustavo. I’ve come to this forum frequently, and you guys have always offered great advice!
I’ve attempted to bond Gus to numerous different rabbits, and all have failed – he has made it adamantly clear he loves humans and doesn’t like other bunnies. So getting him a friend is out of the…[Read more]
