Whew, what a saga! I’m glad she’s doing better and yes I agree 100% this is the “post spay craze”, combined with being cooped up during her recovery. Giving her extra “boredom buster” activities during this time should help, especially things to chew, dig at, and shred. If you can get a phone book, they are great for this!
I think you are OK to…[Read more]

The aggression/destructive behaviour might very well be due to a “hormonal surge” post spay. Hormones travel in the blood stream to the receptors on their target organs. When they cant “find” their receptors, more hormones will be relased for some time. This situation is known as a post-neuter craze, and its normal and self-limiting. With boys…[Read more]

Her spay was Tuesday morning and she did great. The vet found some neoplasia in her uterus but it didn’t seem to be very far along (I’m not sure what the correct term would be, but) and the x-rays didn’t seem to show any spread. She nibbled hay and ate two romaine leaves as soon as she got back home. She also pooped a couple large, squishy poops.…[Read more]

Many rabbits develop a callus on their heel. If it’s covered by a flap of fur it usually doesn’t become a problem, but falls in the “keep an eye on it” category. Adding softer flooring will help keep it from progressing to a problem. Keeping the nails trimmed also helps keep pressure off the heel.
As far as the breathing goes, we wouldn’t be able…[Read more]

I think you are wise to have her spayed. Even if they find cancerous growth, uterine cancer is slow to metastasize, so chances are good a spay is curative. Cancer is not the only risk for an intact girl bun, there are other potential reproductive disorders that a spay will put a stop to.
It sounds a bit unusual to me to send a bun home so soon…[Read more]

Posting this for new member Mu:
”My bun will be five years old sometime soon (not sure exactly when– she was born sometime March, April, or May). She’s currently unspayed, but has an appointment this week (it’s a long story; in short, when I got her I was a young teen terrified I was going to harm her, she did horribly in the car, the two years a…[Read more]

It was 800 including some other meds, but I’m glad that seems a normal price range. But yes they were trying to charge me again to rerun the rest and I told them how I was coming in expecting it to be free as I paid money to see results not errors so it would’ve been nice for it to be free. The doc said he thinks he doesn’t have low plate…[Read more]

Sometimes you have to perform “surgery” depending on how the exercise pen was made. The panels aren’t necessarily meant to come apart. But if they are attached at the joints, you can usually cut the thing that is holding them together.

Hi @theMangobun , this is a very old thread, so you are unlikely to get responses. It would be best to start a new thread with your question. Unlike other forums, we ask members not to reply to old threads to avoid confusion. I’m going to lock this thread now.

I think you are doing whats best for him. Its true that a very tiny fracture might not show on x-rays, and even if they did, you wouldnt treat it any differently except perhaps try to stop him from jumping for a week or two. Rabbits dont appreciate full cage rest, so cage rest could do more harm than good in his case.
Asked physio again, the fact…[Read more]

Thank you for your response. Very helpful information.
I was thinking elbow injury is he tries to clean his right ear but can’t bring the paw up. But he can clea his face with that paw. I gently touched his elbow and he didn’t react at all. Even vet examined and he said he couldn’t see or feel anything.
It could be something in the paw itself…[Read more]

I asked a human physiotherapist about this. They said it could be a ligament injury. Those can heal unless its a completely torn ligament, but it as a rule takes quite some time. It doesnt seem to be a complete rupture, because he retains such a lot of function. Its very promising that he has so much function.
Another possiblity could be an elbow…[Read more]

You all say they are removable, but how do you do it? I have 5 x-pens here, I’m trying to remove two piece of one to connect to another somewhere else. (I’m using these pens all around my balcony so that my bunbun don’t fall) but I need to remove pieces of the ones on my back balcony to add to the one on the front balcony but I can’t find a way t…[Read more]
