Hotter weather can naturally lead to more “bleh”. Rabbits are more intolerant of hot weather because of the fur.
While a fan will circulate air, it doesn’t do much in terms of actually cooling the room. There are some tips here: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/cooling-tips/ , https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Hot_weather_concerns

Can you provide some more clear details around what you’ve done in terms of the bonding process? Rabbit bonding has some mechanics that require time and slowly going from step to step, often taking multiple weeks to sometimes months of daily work/sessions.
To start, when you’ve tried short meetings, have they been in a small neutral territory?…[Read more]

My 1st bunny, Bella (spayed), after a year still refuses to get along with my 2nd bunny, Winnie. They’re about 5 months apart and ever since I got Winnie, Bella has always tried to attack him. She grunts at him, tried to bite him, chases him, at one point we heard Winnie squeal because she was hurting him. The other side of the story is Winnie l…[Read more]

Recently my rabbit has been a lot more lazy than usual and sleeping during the day more. When it’s her playtime usually she will come out of her hideout and wait to be let out of her pen, but the last 2 or 3 days she has just come out and sat there by her hideout when I open the pen doors. I have to go in her cage and tap her on the back or she…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit Ear Tattoo Meaning? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
Unfortunately, there isn’t a universal system. Tattoos for identification purposes are really whatever system the breeder comes up with. They know what it means, and perhaps the people at a rabbit show knows what it means (because the breeder explained it and uses the same system for all their bunnies). Other than that though, I don’t think anyone…[Read more]

I agree, it depends! Rabbits who are showed usually have tattoos, but also if the bun has been vaccinated for RHDV2 they either add a tattoo or a microchip as an ID. Does the rescue have any info on it (such as whether they gave him the tattoo)?
He is beautiful!

Rory is gorgeous!!
What ear tattoes mean vary between countries and regions. I have one rescue bun whose ear tattoes say what registered (national breeder) she comes from.
My 2nd bun’s ear tattoo signifies the rescue he comes from. There’s no international standard as of yet, but the fact that s o went through the effort to get their bun tattoed…[Read more]

Hello, I have a rabbit – Rory, who I got as a rescue (I obtained him from animal control, which obtained him from the side of the road) when he was a baby.
They said he was a mini rex, and he fits the breed standard pretty well, so he is probably is one. He’s got an ear tattoo on his left ear, and I was wondering if it would be possible to find a…[Read more]

It does sound like you are very, very well prepared! A responsible carer is likely to know when there’s sth they should contact you about, even though they dont have rabbit experience, assuming it will be possible to contact you of course.

Hey!
Thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn’t reply sooner we have now had extra stress of our airline pilots going on strike, so the whole trip is now uncertain anyway…
Yes, so one pet sitter is somewhat knowledgeable and has cared for our bunnies short term in the past and the other is responsible and trusted but not experienced. Unfortunately…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Sneezing vs. choking? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
It’s not really possible to say. Were the treats tiny? Rabbits tend to choke on small pieces of food that they’re very excited for and pretty much inhale instead of chew. Greedy buns should be fed scattered pellets rather than pellets in a bowl, to lower the risk of this.
I think I’d just keep a close eye on her.
You can read up a bit on “the…[Read more]

Em replied to the topic Potential E.cuniculi + URI: Hind Limb Weakness in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
Oh no sorry, that was my bad with my poor wording choice – I knew you meant that the URI was the (potential) first sign of him actively fighting EC on the basis that his immune system was compromised from the EC which then lead to a URI developing from his poor immune system. I know you’re not saying that a URI is a symptom of E.cuniculi, so d…[Read more]

No, sorry, I was being unclear. The URI is caused by bacteria, in your case staphylococcus. But the reason why these bacteria could cause a URI could be because your bun’s immune defense was suppressed by EC. Rabbits can be carriers of EC their whole lives and never get sick.
A flare up is when the ec parasites for some reason start to multiply…[Read more]
