Yes, they tend to adapt just fine. But I do agree that they can have more trouble with arthritis. Considering his age, this might be a concern. I would definitely look into ways to make things more accessible to him. Jumping up and down from things would be especially hard on the joints.

If there is big concern about weight, you simply want her eating more calories. You can try and increase pellet amount slightly (depending on her age and ideal weight). Nebulizers can be used for bunnies with respiratory issues. One of our members used F10 antiseptic in a nebulizer for her chronic snuffles bun. (This was in the UK). Saline can be used too. Some antibiotics can be nebulized.

Rabbits can have N-acetylcystein, which helps make mucus less thick. I have only administered this orally.
