    Are the rabbits spayed/neutered?

Rabbits can have what’s called “referred aggression”, meaning if they see or smell another rabbit that is an intruder (any rabbit they aren’t bonded with), they will attack any person or rabbit that comes near them. I think your bun is probably feeling defensive because the other rabbit is around. Even if he can’t…[Read more]

It does look a bit concerning, I think I would ask my vet, especially if it happens again.

I’ve very glad he is doing better, and agree with others that your supportive care got him through! Keep up the nursing care along with the vets treatments, it sounds like a stasis episode which can take some time to recover from.

Ok yes, then this is probably the biggest issue with litter training! Even if he isn’t spraying (thank goodness) they will still leave poops and pee around.

I would say keep him confined to an area that has the flooring protected for now and just hang on until he’s neutered. Usually litter habits improve greatly on their own around 3 weeks after…[Read more]

Layers or cardboard or paper mats could work. Even if she shreds them up they will still do the job!

She’s litter trained yes she goes into a tray in corner but then she also likes to sit in it so we regularly clean it out.
I could try putting a mat down and see how she goes on she’s just a nightmare and pulls everything up she just likes to sit on the wood!

They look like calluses. Is she litter trained at all? Could you cover the wood floor with something softer, like a mat?

Yes, I agree that timeouts and physical punishment are not going to work. You can use a “timeout” to break the cycle of a repetitive behavior, but this type of “timeout” is simply removing bunny from the situation. For example, they just won’t leave something alone even though you go over to stop them multiple times. I have found that removing…[Read more]

Keep doing what you’re doing. I agree with Bam that you probably saved his life by giving him supportive care. I’m glad you are seeing some improvement. Just keep in mind that this can sometimes be a slow process with some setbacks along the way.

Dogs and rabbits can become friends, but it’s wise to watch them. Make sure the rabbit always have a safe place where it can hide if it wants to, and where the dog absolutely cant reach it, no matter what. A dog can still harm a rabbit just by barking and trying to get at it, but GSDs are normally not very barky dogs. Small dogs tend to be a lot…[Read more]

Oh, I didn’t know I was hurting him. I thought he just maybe liked it? Tbh honest I didn’t really have a scientific reason, but I thought it was cute. I will stop holding him like this, I feel bad for doing this to him.

To reply to @DanaNM He is not neutered. I am trying to save up money, which is the main reason my parents pay for his food. I…[Read more]

My rabbit has since been sleeping on his back also, and I thought it was fine because the lady at the breeding den held him on his back to check his gender. Now that I think of it, she was a rabbit breeder, whos house looked like a rabbit puppy mill .

I fell so bad for doing this to him. I truly thought it was cute, but if it hurts him I will never do it again. I hold my cats like this, and from what Ive read I thought that it would be ok.

I once flown with my rabbit and my sisters, who had no history with each other. Lucky me, they didn’t fight, but we asked the vet to give us some pain meds in case one of them started having a panic attack etc. My rabbit ate fine, but my sisters was too nervous once we got on the plane, but she ate just fine during the layover. We were on the…[Read more]

The only way to not get baby bunnies is to keep the two rabbits separate -at all timrs. It takes seconds for a male bun to impregnate a girl bun, and she will ovulate upon being mated. Rabbits dont have heat periods like dogs (you probably know this), so a mature girl bun can become pregnant at any time.

The buns need to be kept separate not just…[Read more]

I am not a breeder, I do not wish to be a breeder, and I don’t agree with breeding bunnies for meat or for selling. I like to think I saved my boy from being sold as a meat or breeding rabbit, but now I’m stuck with a dilemma. My sisters rabbit and my boy have always been near each other when they were younger because we knew that they didn’t have…[Read more]

I was an intern at a zoo this summer and we identify Koalas and our monkey species with fingerprints. If someone messes up a tag and we all don’t agree which koala they are, we stamp their hand in pet paint and send it into a lab. The lab will tell us which koala they are, as we get their fingerprints when they arrive.

So a bit of backstory, I have a female rabbit in  the house right now and my boy has been in his cage almost for three or four hours. He is almost never in his cage for that long unless I am not home. As I have cats, I like to monitor his free roam time, but of course he gets it. I put the female in the bathroom to let him run around for a bit. T…[Read more]
