The only way to not get baby bunnies is to keep the two rabbits separate -at all timrs. It takes seconds for a male bun to impregnate a girl bun, and she will ovulate upon being mated. Rabbits dont have heat periods like dogs (you probably know this), so a mature girl bun can become pregnant at any time.
The buns need to be kept separate not just…[Read more]

I am not a breeder, I do not wish to be a breeder, and I don’t agree with breeding bunnies for meat or for selling. I like to think I saved my boy from being sold as a meat or breeding rabbit, but now I’m stuck with a dilemma. My sisters rabbit and my boy have always been near each other when they were younger because we knew that they didn’t have…[Read more]

I was an intern at a zoo this summer and we identify Koalas and our monkey species with fingerprints. If someone messes up a tag and we all don’t agree which koala they are, we stamp their hand in pet paint and send it into a lab. The lab will tell us which koala they are, as we get their fingerprints when they arrive.

So a bit of backstory, I have a female rabbit in the house right now and my boy has been in his cage almost for three or four hours. He is almost never in his cage for that long unless I am not home. As I have cats, I like to monitor his free roam time, but of course he gets it. I put the female in the bathroom to let him run around for a bit. T…[Read more]

I own a very big dog. She is a german shepherd and her back literally touches my hip! (Im 5´5) And my bunny weighs about 3 pounds. She treats him like it is her CHILD. I love how she is so gentle with him. She is only allowed in the house on weekends(because that’s when we bathe her), and even before we got the rabbit she would come into my r…[Read more]

I agree it looks a bit odd. Has he been tilting his head back at all while doing this?

Rabbits are not like cats when it comes to litterboxes. They aren’t programmed to go in random rectangular boxes– for a rabbit to likely do all business in their litterbox, they should be spayed/neutered, the litterbox set up should be spacious w/ plenty of easily accessible hay, and the location of the litterbox has to be in places where a…[Read more]

is this a sign for alarm? Came home to my baby boy breathing like this. He’s still out hopping around and enjoyed his greens when I got home. There are fresh poops so he’s still going to the bathroom. But I’ve never seen him breathing like that. He’s 8 years old

I’m happy to hear he is doing better! You seem to be doing everything right and you probably saved his life by doing what you did last night. It’s wonderful that he came out to check on what you were doing when you were rearranging his enclosure!
You will (obviously) need to continue to syringe feed him CC as long as he isnt eating on his own,…[Read more]

Thank you very much for your responses.
I managed to get a fair bit of Critical Care into him (he has 3 feedings since) but he started to “do better” in the middle of the night. His ears felt chilled so I gave him a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.
I got no sleep last night checking on him and petting him and telling him how he is so lov…[Read more]

They’re covered by her fur.
She’s in a hut outsideI try putting loads of hay etc. down but she pushed it to the side and just sits in the wooden flooring I don’t know what else I can do :(. -
DanaNM replied to the topic Bun sleeps on back in the forum THE LOUNGE 2 years, 9 months ago
In the picture the bun appears to be “tranced”, which is not recommended. it can be stressful to the rabbit even if it appears that they are sleeping. There have been studies that show it slows the heart rate, and it rare cases this can be dangerous to the rabbit.

Is he neutered? If not it may be very hard to litter train him.
Can you describe his housing set up?

I agree with Bam that supportive care can go along way. Do his ears feel cold? Do you have any past pain meds you can give him? How is he doing now?

It’s a little hard to tell from the picture but they don’t appear to be red?
Were they covered by a flap of fur? If so that’s more of a callus, so I would just keep an eye on it and try to make her flooring softer.

The total travel time isn’t terrible so that’s good. I wouldn’t worry about letting them exercise, the more important thing is creating a calm enough space that they eat during the layover. You should also have a plan for if you get delayed (such as a cancelled connection). They will likely be ok in the same carrier, but do you have a back-up plan…[Read more]

Hey all,
Here’s the sitch:
- I’m moving from New Hampshire to California with two rabbits and a cat!
- Three hour flight, two hour layover, three hour flight
- Two unbonded rabbits in the same carrier
- In cabin with me and a cat
- Has anyone flown with rabbits before, could you share your experiences?
- Should I be seriously concerned about…
