There are different kinds of fleas. Perhaps this was a flea, just not what you’re used to seeing? Did you look closely in her fur for signs of fleas like flea dirt and flaky skin? IF it is fleas, then you can treat relatively inexpensively with Revolution or Advantage. Just remember not to use anything with fipronil in it on a rabbit.

I cant say what the bug is, but if you look through your buns’ fur and dont find any bugs there nor any flea droppings, and the buns arent scratching themselves, I think the bug has nothing to do with this. There are lotsof bugs around in the summer. The majority are harmless to buns and humans.

It’s definitely possible, the only other condition I know of off of the top of my head that would cause excessive peeing and drinking would be e. cuniculi but it doesn’t sound like this was the case with your bun, I’ve also done some reading about vitamin d deficiency and not getting enough calcium, as I’m currently trying to get more sun for my…[Read more]

Hi, so we’ve been to the vet and he had an x-ray done. He just had a bit of gas and some blockage which they’re putting him on meds for. Funny you mention that about the calcium, because he also drank and urinated A LOT, so it’s possible something was going on with his kidneys. We never looked into that though because we thought the drinking was likely to sooth the pain from his teeth. But perhaps there was something wrong with his kidneys and calcium absorption.
