I use something very similar for my buns, but I cover them with a softer blanket that provides more traction and discourages chewing. And yes the washing frequency really depends on box habits. For my incontinent senior I was washing them twice a week, but for my other buns I can go 2 weeks.

Hi everyone, we’ve finished up all his medicine and he’s muhh happier, he’s eating his pellets and alot of lettuce. We’ve got binkies and zoomies and he’s just doing so much better. I thought I should just finish up on here but I will definitely come back if I’ve got any questions or anything, but he’s all better so here’s hoping nothings going…[Read more]

If they’re a good choice depends on whether the rabbit chews on it and ensuring it provides good, stable traction based on the floor it’s on top of.
How often to wash it is probably up to you and your cleaning standards, as well as frequency of spills/accidents on it.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I currently can’t get bun spayed because my mother who is on holiday for another week or so wants me to wait so she can help out. Definitely going to be booking an appointment ASAP though.
I have continued to bond with her and have seen some improvement – she now lets me pet or kiss her head again – but as soon as…[Read more]

@LBJ10 Oh, ok, I wasn’t sure if something like that would go through bunny fur. I have a couple small ones, though, so maybe I will try that. 🙂

I always had better luck with battery powered clippers meant for people. They are less bulky, quieter, and still get the job done since bunny fur is fine and fluffy.

Hello!
I am wondering if anyone could recommend the best clippers and brushes/combs for buns with long cotton-y fur.
My bunny Churro is a Fuzzy Lop (I think) and his fur has been an uphill battle since I adopted him almost a year and a half ago. Apparently, it was for his former owners too, because the shelter said they had to shave several huge…[Read more]

I don’t use reusable pee pads. I use whelping mats instead. They are fleece on top and waterproof on the bottom. I switch it out once per week, but I don’t have a lot of trouble with accidents outside the litter box.

Hi! I adopted two bunnies (3.5 months old/males/unneutered) and I’ve been using these reusable/washable fabric pee pads as the flooring for their separate x-pens. They will be free roamed after they get neutered and are bonded.
They are pretty much potty trained, but on the rare occasion they have accidents where a small amount of pee dribble…[Read more]

Thank you guys so much for your kind words and suggestions. <3 I’m going to order the Myristol ASAP and also try the Emeriaid (because yeah, he turns his nose up to all of the Critical Care flavors), and I will get in touch with the vet to inquire about the dose. He is currently getting 1mL of meloxicam a day. Thankfully he currently still has one…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Cryptorchid Bun/ Surgery in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
Agreed that it isn’t too niche or specialized of a surgery. At a rescue I volunteered for, we had a neutered male who was still very hormonal and they found he has a 3rd testicle in there. As long as you’re working with an experienced rabbit surgeon, there should be no issues!

It really isn’t much different than a spay surgery. One of my bunnies had one testicle that didn’t descend. It was kind of funny because it looked like both of them were there. But when the vet went to do the neuter, she found a testicle in one sack and a fatty deposit in the other. She found the second testicle in his abdomen after a little…[Read more]

Yes, it does sound like the hormones have started to kick in. Oftentimes it is like someone flipping a light switch.

Aww, poor Fresno. 🙁 I’m sorry you haven’t seen much improvement. I agree with the others. You should revisit the dosage with the vet. Sometimes they just need a higher dose and bunnies can actually safely have quite a bit. Obviously, it isn’t without it’s risks. But when bunnies get old, the benefits often outweigh the risks when the goal is…[Read more]

Dana has given you good advice. It does seem like he was older than anyone thought when you got him, but I had a dog who wasn’t even 9 years old when she got bad arthritis.
As Dana says, you could talk to your vet about the meloxicam dosage. Meloxicam has a quite wide “therapeutic window” meaning you can safely increase the dose quite a lot. My…[Read more]

It sounds like bunny puberty! She’s right around that age, it’s very normal for them to get a bit moody during this time as they transition from a baby to adult. I would start thinking about booking her for her spay, and once she’s past the teenage phase she will settle into her adult personality. Just keep doing things to bond with her and spend…[Read more]
