Hoo boy! Interesting time ahead for you!
I think it was a good plan to stop any further bonding attempts with the 7mth old and your pair for now. Definitely wait another month at least. As for how you go about bonding the 5, I really dont have advice on best way to do that but just some thoughts on possible challenges. I did want to firstly ad…[Read more]

Hello I am new to the group. But I am looking for ideas of how to bond my 5 rabbits. I have a bonded pair. One Flemish one French lop both neutered. They have been a pair for about 7 months but they are 1 and 2 years old. Their bond was super easy never any fighting or pulling hair just instant friends. I have taken in a 1 year old female…[Read more]

Oh Im sorry. I can imagine you feel awful and worried. Were you able to wash some of it off once you realised?
Im not really aware of other treatment other then what the vet has already done. How long has it been now?
Sending lots of (((vibes))) for the boy!

I have a two year old holland lop and I made the worst mistake ever and gave him Frontline Plus and it is causing seizures for him now. I am devastated at what I have done to him. I took him to the vet and got keppra and critical care food. He still is having seizures and the vet said they did everything they could and he might not make it . they…[Read more]

Hello
What age are they? Are they desexed at all? I know it seems odd question, just looking for some background information.
Will she eat the treat if broken into smaller pieces or still no interest?
Have you seen her poop today? When do you think was the last time she ate?
When they look like they want to eat but drop food it can sometimes…[Read more]

I need help! My bun just today started refusing to eat anything, including her favorite treats. The weird thing though is she still gets excited and runs to me when I shake the treat bag, and she jumps on me until I take the treat out and offer it to her, and she literally gets it in her mouth, then pauses, drops it on the ground, sniffs it, and…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic Could my bunny have megacolon ? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
I agree, nice hay poops there! Because they are not too much larger then his round ones, I don’t think its cause for concern. Some will produce ovals poops now and then. If it were 2-3 time larger or if was quite wet, then Id be more inclined to think something was amiss.

I guess all his needs are met with the other rabbit and dog, but it would be nice if he showed some love to the person who feeds him. 😉
I wonder what his 1st year of life was like. Maybe he developed an ingrained habit.
I had a lop who I adopted when he was 2 years old. While he was sweet, he was definitely a “no-touchies” bun. I was used to my…[Read more]

I think the corn salad is a type of green. I learnt that from one of our Dutch BB members!
I just had a quick look and it can have diuretic effect. So maybe that’s why your bun is drinking/peeing a lot?? You could try cut back on the amount of it you feed and introduce some other salad green?

jerseygirl replied to the topic Chewing Baseboards & Corners in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 5 months ago
Some rabbits are just chewers and it’s hard to get them out of that. My own approach is not to try… it’s good for their teeth anyway. 😛
Are the baseboards simple style? Is it the tops he gets to? At home, Ive used hard plastic strips to cover mine. They’re just held in place with blue-tak! I went to the trouble of sectioning some r…[Read more]

I noted you said the vet didnt think it was mites but did they try some ivermectin at all? Sarcoptic Mange mite can start around the edge of the ears. I just wonder if he does have some sort of mite infestation and secondary fungal infection or vice versa?

Do you have any rabbit rescues near you or rabbits available through shelters like SPCA? Perhaps your parents would be open to the idea of fostering a rabbit or a pair so the whole family will get an idea of what it is like having rabbits indoors? In the months following Easter there is unfortunately an influx of rabbits coming into s…[Read more]

Sweet looking bunny!
Have they considered Treponematosis (aka rabbit syphilis) ? Typically this would cause some lesions around the face and genitals but sometimes it presents only on the face. It’s treated with a series of injections or Penicillin G. Given he is also sneezing, penicillin might be beneficial for whatever is causing that also. I…[Read more]

Hi Angelica
Given his age, I would guess at it being some hormonal sounds he’s making. Some will do this just hopping around. Some when excited by food etc. That said, I have heard of a rabbit becoming sensitive to carpet before and it causing some sneezing! You could try him back in the previous area and see it that makes a difference.
Is h…[Read more]

Hello, I have had my bunny for several months now and he has been very active. He is a 6-7 months old and is at the time not spayed.
I have noticed that he has been sometimes honking/snorting lately. He does this sometimes when he eats and sometimes when he lies down with me he makes some sort of snuffing noises. He has been playing a lot and…[Read more]

String of pearl-poop and oval poop are signs of gut slowdown. Cowpile syndrome (megacolon) is a more serious condition. Megacolon buns tend to have frequent episodes of painful gas and shapeless poop. They also have trouble keeping weight on due to malabsorption of nutrients.
I think perhaps you are overthinking a little bit. Your bun’s poop…[Read more]
