Those are good suggestions from Jerseygirl! 🙂
I totally get how you feel — I’m super sensitive too! But things changed for me when I found this technique, described in this video with Amy Sedaris (who’s a bunny person): https://youtu.be/W9KemnaTGIs Basically, you gently squeeze twice before cutting, and that way if you did accidentally pl…[Read more]

I’m glad to hear she’s doing better! I would assume Critical Care can cause smaller poop because even though it has a high fiber content, it cant compete with hay. It’s filling too, so the bun might not bother with the hay even if it technically could eat hay as well. I’m glad you’ve been able to stop the CC!
The most common cause of gastric…[Read more]

So our vet’s office called to check on him a while ago, and I’m waiting for a call back from the doctor that will be sometime soon
I did some research and looked into what was said in Wick’s thread and the advice said above and I plan on asking the vet for medication for possible mites as well, as I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be too careful…[Read more]

Hi everyone! 🙂 So nice to see the forum back!
Teddy’s been doing great over the past year, thankfully! He’s coming out of a recent slowdown right now, and I’m wondering when we should stop giving subcutaneous fluids — and if we should taper them, how. He’s still getting his stasis meds (meloxicam, famotidine, cisapride, & simethicone) but…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I just wanted to come back and say thank you so much again for all your help!! Teddy really did stay well after my last entry, thank goodness!! He’s still with us a year later, and we’re so grateful. He didn’t have any more problems with eating until we took him to the vet for a checkup in October, haha. (But then he reco…[Read more]

Mackenzie replied to the topic Litter box Training: How many droppings outside the box are normal? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 5 months ago
Hi DanaNM,
Thanks for the warm welcome and advice! 🙂
To answer your questions:
- His droppings when I had him in a bigger space where everywhere and scattered. When I have him in a more restricted space, they’re usually only within a foot or so of his litter box. I just don’t know how many are normal to have out of his box per day: 5? 20?

Aww congratulations ! How old is he?
You’re right, car rides can be stressful & he may not feel like eating the usual amount due to that.
Does he have hay? You’ll probably find he’ll do a lot of his poops when munching away on hay. It might be at certain times of the day or night.
Occasional poops here and there could be him marking the space…[Read more]

I just got a mini lops yesterday afternoon I have never had a bunny before. He is very active little guy but he is constantly cleaning himself and he is just now starting to poop but only a little here and there. He does eat and drink. He had almost a 4 hour car ride to come home and I know that can stress him but I am worried that something might…[Read more]

How about seeing if there are local dog groomers that also do rabbit & cat nails and can do home visits? You’d have to make careful arrangements currently due to covid19.
Another idea is check on social media if there is a House Rabbit Society local chapter, rabbit rescue, SPCA etc that can recommend someone who does rabbit nails for a fee.

That’s great the cream is helping so quickly. I hope that’s all he needs.

I’m sorry it isn’t helping. 😕 That is worrisome that it occurs when he’s asleep.
Has Snickerdoodle had a history or digestive issues at all?
I did read a story about a rabbit was put on motility meds (metclopramide, cisapride) and this actually helped. The theory being the normal mechanisms that prevent food coming back up from stomach was fault…[Read more]

Oh, my mistake. Sorry!
I think it will contain her at this age but the wire could cause mouth injuries.
I’m not sure what you could use to prevent her from getting to it until you’re able to replace it. 🤔
Do you plan to introduce her to the cats eventually?

Hi @Wick – thanks so much for the input! I was hoping you might see this thread as I know you have a lot of experience in this area with Wick. It makes sense that he would be more prone to contract other things because his immune system isn’t at full force at the moment, I plan on keeping a close eye on Ollie and looking him over thoroughly when I…[Read more]
