lindseyh2 started the topic Planning the bonding process/Advice wanted! (unique situation?) in the forum BONDING 6 years, 5 months ago

Hi everyone! Once everything has cleared up with Ollie in terms of the fungal infection/possible mites, I really want to try bonding my two again. I am going to have a LOT of free time to devote to this process as I will likely not be working this summer – so I figured it could be a good chance to try the process again. Here’s a bit of background…[Read more]

I have been using wood shavings as a base in my rabbit hutch but its so messy and a nightmare to clean! I am having to clean them once a day as well because they are not litter trained yet, last night i put newspaper down with some shavings on the top but this morning they had been nibbling at it, not loads but just wondering if this is safe? It…[Read more]

Is his leg all limp? If so, it could be broken and need a splint. Hopefully it is just a sprain that will heal of it’s own. Is he still eating and pooping like he should?

ETA: I have now discussed this a little bit with moderator Jerseygirl. She suggested 2 possibilities:

    1. Maybe your vet didnt do a full castration, I e a full oviario-hysterectomy. A spay is technically just a hysterectomy. It is not as common these days as it used to be, because it means the animal will still produce sex hormones and display all…[Read more]

I would love to see a picture because you might be explaining a totally natural process called molting. Rabbits molt twice a year which is exactly as it sounds: they blast off their fur in huge patches to get ready for the next season. So, since you’re new to rabbits, this might be her first molt, google image search molting rabbits and see if…[Read more]

I have frequented this site before. Like, a lot. I used to linger and read posts without an account; I used the site as confirmation a certain food or toy was good/bad. Now, I have an account!

I currently have two bunnies: Hannibal and Mabel. Hanny is probably about 4 and half years old give or take and Mabel has just turned 8 in February. Mabel…[Read more]

Hi BB team! Thanks for your hard work on the site upgrade, it looks awesome!

I am trying to change my profile picture but there is no way to move the picture around or crop it. The crop button triggers a “save” response.

I am not in a rush to change my profile picture but wanted you to be aware of the issue. Thanks!

Hi there, sorry to hear your bunny has a hurt paw. With the understanding of what is going on in the world right now, are veterinarians in the Phillipines considered essential services? If so, they may be open for you to drop off your bunny for an exam while you wait outside or inside but away from the staff.

They may be able to prescribe you…[Read more]

This is a good idea for a long-lasting house! I had thoughts to do that with one of my tote boxes but I’m scared it won’t be used by my rascals and I won’t have a need for it. That said, with this quarantine going on, I’m not able to get my free boxes when I go shopping so I’m getting pretty close to needing a long term solution for a house! I…[Read more]

Bunstar replied to the topic Dig box- what if my bunny is eating paper? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 5 months ago

Some rabbits ingest the paper they chew and that can be fine if they’re eating enough hay to keep their systems moving and as long as the paper doesn’t contain dyes, stickers/tape/glitter (I’m thinking of some of the tissue paper available near me). A little bit won’t hurt. That said, oftentimes, rabbits ingest paper products because they’re…[Read more]

    Hi and welcome!

It is common for a bun to become “extra hormonal” for some time after de-sexing. It is known as a post-spay craze and the effects can in some cases last 6 months to a year before it subsides. This could explain the false pregnancies and also the pee spraying and poop marking. Since she’s not incontinent all the time, it doesnt seem…

Like others mentioned, some bunnies just cannot get over their early life experiences. My old rabbit was like that and mellowed in her last few years and my current senior lady, Mabel, is skittish and prefers my partner over me! What we can do to allow these bunnies to learn is to spend more time with them. Almost every morning I will stay in the…[Read more]

    Hi all,

I’m a new bunny mum and puzzled by gorgeous Luna.  She was neutered in Feb at 4 months, got a hernia the next day so had another op – I was told she might not make it through the night so I was very emotional. BUT she pulled through that and is sort of back to normal.  However, since then she has had 3 phantom pregnancies….makes a l…[Read more]
