Some rabbits get into a bit of a funk pre-molt or while they are molting. Is the more fur coming off currently?
We’ve had a few members post lately about seeing some hormonal behaviours in desexed rabbits. This can often be attributed to “spring fever”. I wonder if your girl has had some minor hormonal change due to season and she’s “moody”…[Read more]

It’s very possibly it’s her licking it that’s caused the fur loss & inflammation. Is it something you’ve notice her do a lot?
If that was the case, she’s definitely bothered by something. If it were really, really itchy for example.
“The vet said that her paw looks fine and she’s probably just pulled the fur out herself.”
Did the vet give an…[Read more]

My boy Louie started sneezing and scratching his ears excessively, so I took him to the vet and she said that he had some fluid in his middle ear from an infection. She said the infection wasn’t in his inner ear but to watch for head tilt and other symptoms. Also she suggested that the ear infection could spread to a sinus infection which could…[Read more]

Yes, you would likely just feel it on one side. Have you felt it again recently? It should become less noticeable as the food moves out of the stomach.
Considering your bunny is otherwise acting normally, I doubt it is gas or “bloat”. There are certainly other possible (more serious) explanations. However, she’s only 2 months old so my first…[Read more]

This is a tough one! How long has she been hiding out for? And can you tell if she’s eating and pooping about the same amount as normal?
With my bunnies, hiding more than usual has usually come with gastrointestinal stasis/slowdown, but that doesn’t mean that’s necessarily what your bunny has.
Mine have also gone through phases of preferring t…[Read more]

She eats regularly. She doesn’t seem to eat unless she’s hungry. If she’s full, would it only be on one side of her tummy?

Hmm… did she eat a lot recently? Sometimes you can feel it when a bunny has a stomach full of food.

Nettle and chickweed are supposed to be rabbit-safe too.
I would caution people about wild carrot/Queen Anne’s lace. They are easily confused with toxic members of the carrot family.

St Augustine grass is considered a forage grass for ruminants. It has less protein than timothy and about the same amount of fiber. It does contain a small percentage of oxalates though.
I’ve never heard of Florida betony, but I looked it up. Apparently people eat all parts of the plant. It is in the mint family.

It’s not protruding but you can feel it like it’s a bulge or bump. It’s a bit smaller than a ping pong ball. It’s firm yet soft. I’m not sure if that makes sense

What do you mean by lump or bump? Is something actually protruding? Is it hard, soft? How big is it?

Bunnies do what bunnies do. Who can resist a tasty toothbrush handle? If he ate some of the rubber part (I’m assuming the grip), it probably isn’t the end of the world. Bunnies manage to eat a lot of strange things and they manage to poop them out too. Just make sure he’s eating hay and drinking water. This will move things along.
As for more…[Read more]

Hi, I have two bunnies, both netherland dwarf. One of them I just got recently, Alice, she’s still a baby. The breeder told me that Alice was 2 months old but she seems no where near 2 months since she was extremely smaller than my other one when she was 2 months. I’m extremely worried because Alice has a lump or bump on the left side of her…[Read more]

My bun is a 1-year-old Netherland Dwarf, and he has been chewing a lot lately. He lives in my room at the moment until my older sister moves to college and gives her room to the bunny. It’s my room and I drop things here and there. Today I dropped a toothbrush, and he had chewed the rubber part. My vet which is not very local is closed and I’m not…[Read more]
