Wow, I’m so sorry that happened! Thank you for letting me know.
He’s actually great being handled. He rarely if ever squirms and often will relax in my arms and sits contently in my lap. Once I grab a foot and apply gentle pressure he knows what’s up. and bucks.
I’ve tried trimming while holding him as I do normally, (I do a scoop up with one…[Read more]

Hey, I just wanted to say this quickly.. Never flip your rabbit on it’s back because that is how my last bunny recently passed. Flipping them on their back puts them in a trance, and slows their heart rate drastically, COMMONLY STOPPING the heart, causing the bun to pass. If your bunny already is squirmy and doesnt like being handled, flipping on…[Read more]

Thank you so much. Based on what you said, I put a cardboard corner piece around the edge of my walls, and so far he seems to love it! I closely monitored his bathroom habits and drinking habits. He now seems to be doing just fine. I found an old phone book hanging around, ripped some pieces out and shredded them into a cardboard box for him to…[Read more]

Hey all, thanks for the reply.
I took her to the vet yesterday, and they said everything looked good. A molar does look a bit pointy but it doesn’t look like it could cause irritations, although some rabbits are more sensitive than others. I told the vet to proceed with the molar trim anyway, so now she is back home with some med for pain,…[Read more]

So I ended up taking a piece of cardboard and clamping it over the problem spot, and that seems to have helped! It at least gives him something safer to chew and protects their feet from the sharp edge.

I layered some cardboard and grass mats over the digging areas and that also seems to have helped, but look at what the rascal did…[Read more]

For brushing, I love using a lint roller (the sticky kind)! I have also used soft bristle brushes just to get the bun relaxed at the start of grooming. It works so well and only pulls the furs that are ready to come out. I don’t like that it’s a bit wasteful, but after Bun Jovi got stasis from ingesting too much fur I’m not fooling around anymore…[Read more]

Happy Friday!
I’m having some trouble grooming Beau, my 3 month old Holland lop. After reading online I went and got a “fur buster” as it was hands down the most highly recommended comb in the online rabbit communities I frequent.
I feel like I got a power tool for a very small job. He hates it! Even if I try to comb him gently, he sort of…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic possible ticks ๐ in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
Pet your bunny. Like dig through his fur with your fingertips and feel the skin with small, circular movements. That’s how I found a tick on my rabbit a week ago. It had attached to his chin, I pulled it out with tweezers. It was a deer tick, they can be very small when they first attach.
Revolution (selamectin) is not effective against deer…[Read more]

Thank you so much DanaNM! Everything you’ve said makes perfect sense. I’m going to keep them separated without contact for 3-4 weeks in hopes of giving them time to cool off, and Mochi’s hormones to level off, as I can see there’s plenty of animosity between them still. After that I will reassess and hopefully can start rebonding them again.ย …[Read more]

Bunny Bride replied to the topic Rabbit making strange sound, like when a cat has a hairball…. in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
Thanks for the input. Yes I am going to take away the hay box for a while and see if that helps.
In reply to the second posterโI did not think of that, but pellets makes a lot more sense because this noise occurred after his morning pellets both times. Whereas the hay was eaten the night before, so isnโt as relevant time wise.
Any idea what can…[Read more]

Hmm… it does sound like he might be choking on something. If choking is a problem, bunnies tend to choke on pellets. Hay, not so much. So if hay is causing him to choke, then you have to wonder if he’s having difficulty chewing.

Bam replied to the topic sky bunny hind leg issue in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
Hi!
I’m sorry Sky is unwell.
The parasite your gp has researched is called encephalitozoan cuniculi, e cuniculi or EC for short. It is a microscopic (microsprodian)ย parasite, so not an actual animal like a worm or a mite.
It is a parasite that many rabbits carry, they can contract in their mother’s womb. Most rabbits dont get sick from it,…[Read more]

With the hay dust I would expect sneezes rather than choking noises. Maybe he’s eating too fast? My rabbit will eat his pellets too fast and has choked on them a couple of times, luckily he managed to bring it back up. Now I scatter his food around the room or put it in a treat ball to slow him down which seems to do the trick. If your bun is…[Read more]

Hi there, welcome, so sorry you are going through such a stressful situation!
My guess is that the combo of moving and the spay caused the break up. Mochi’s change in hormones likely changed how she smelled and triggered them to reestablish dominance.
It can take a while for females hormones to drain following spaying, so I would actually wait a…[Read more]

Hi guys! I have a situation and have searched everywhere for advice. I have 2 female rabbits, BunBun is 1 year old (spayed 7 months ago) and we’ve had her since she was a baby.
