Thanks so so much for your reply.  Its stressing me out so much!  I have the run split down the middle with chicken wire so they can sniff and see one another and they spend a large chunk of the day in there.   Sometimes they lie next to each other down the side of the chicken wire.  I bring them onto my lap for a cuddle next to each othe…[Read more]

My bunny (Minzi) accidentally eat a stem of an apple. It wasn’t very long but I am worried because I know they are poisonous to bunnies. I have researched and I’ve seen a similar post about apple seeds but I’m still worried. Has anybody had experience with something similar with their bun-buns?

There is nothing you can do for her except keep her comfortable until you can get her to a vet. Head tilt can be caused by an inner ear infection or EC. She needs to see a vet for diagnosis and proper treatment. I know a lot of vets are only doing emergencies. I think this qualifies as an emergency.

To keep her from rolling, you can use a rolled…[Read more]

How long have your buns been living together? I agree with Jersey, there is no point in separating them. My boys lived together for many years. One had chronic sinus and ear infections. The vast majority of the time, these things are not contagious. They are the result of an underlying problem. One rabbit may be susceptible because they have a…[Read more]

I am in desperate need of some assistance. I went into work for a few hours this afternoon and when I came home she was having Body Rolls. About an hour later she was tilting her head all the way back and is acting very strange just laying in my hand won’t really move still breathing good, I don’t know what to do. I bottle-fed this baby bunny…[Read more]

I have a four month old bunny and I took her to the vet to get checked up on and to make her appointment to get spayed. Up to this point I had made up my mind to get it done. While there we found out she has a respiratory infection and a heart murmur. The assistant said it’s rare for baby bunnies to have heart murmurs and that she could grow out o…[Read more]

Hi just wanted to check back in, i took all your advice and stopped with the wood shavings. The set up now is pellets and hay in litter tray(a big pile of hay) so they eat and poop in there! They never sleep in there though they seem to sleep in the pile of straw i have for them as it is cold on a night, so now i have put a shoe box in full of…[Read more]

The wet cloth + fan is a great tip! We do that for ourselves sometimes lol.

My buns really like frozen ceramic tiles (although they don’t last as long). Or I’ve seen a trick where you put an icepack under a terracotta pot base, and then a towel over it so it doesn’t get all wet with condensation.

I will also occasionally just dampen my fingers…[Read more]

100% agree with Dana. Please don’t get rid of her. She’s just a hormonal teenager (possibly pregnant). Things will get better once she’s spayed. 🙂

Fingers crossed he didn’t get the deed done. Rabbits have been known to mate through cage bars, so make sure they are separated by a double barrier if they’re in the same room, just in case he…[Read more]

Yeah that’s what i thought too. I would’ve never had them in the same cage together if i knew nug was a male but i only found out when i took “her” to get spayed and the vet called and said she was actually a male.

At their ages it is possible that she could have gotten pregnant… so be aware of that. You might ask your vet about it. Even though females can’t be spayed till 6 months they can get pregnant as early as 3-4 months. Males can also still have sperm for a few weeks post-neuter.

In any case, keep them separated until she is spayed and her hormones…[Read more]

Sounds like she might still be a bit hormonal. I would give her a couple more weeks to calm down. I’d advice you to hop on over to the bonding forum for some in depth information about the process. Have you done any prebonding? It’s important to do a few weeks of prebonding (swapping litterboxes etc) before attempting an actual bonding…[Read more]

This is unfortunately a very common problem, and is very stressful for all humans and rabbits involved!

The most common reason we see on this forum is that the rabbits were living together as babies, and one or both rabbits hit puberty.

Baby rabbits do not truly bond (although this is a common misconception). We are not sure where this myth…[Read more]

    thanks for your reply!

because of covid-19 nobody was allowed to go into the vet’s office, so i wasn’t present when the rabbit was examined. however, i think the vet must have looked at his teeth, so i don’t think anything is wrong there. i haven’t noticed the rabbit shedding and i don’t know why he might be stressed. he’s generally a happy bun,…[Read more]

    Hi there,

Sorry you are dealing with this. 🙁 Babies get along fine, but do not truly bond, so all of the behaviors you are seeing are hormonal based and due to puberty etc. Once your girl is spayed and her hormones have settled you can work on bonding them. For now, keep them completely separate (no play time together), but they can live side by…[Read more]
