Thank you Wilbur the Bunny! How’s the first month of having a bun? Sorry I forgot to clarify when I said treats I meant like banana and apple!😂 Thanks for all the great ideas. I’ve seen bunnies for adoption for $15-75. (Not too bad considering you are saving a bun.) I really like how they come fixed it’s honestly great and a money saver. Like I…[Read more]

Thank you all so so so much! You have no idea the amount of stress that you’ve lifted off my shoulders LOL
We are down to one income at the moment because of COVID so being able to wait a bit to get them spayed or neutered will really help out!
I’m going to schedule their first check up to make sure they’re both boys and get them looked over.…[Read more]

Thank you so much Dana! I do plan on adopting older buns, rather than babies. If they are still around once I graduate, I won’t leave them to be my parents responsibility. Plus, my parents have already told me I should probably do a local community college the first 2 years anyways and just stay at home. That gives me 5+ years (I can’t say exactly…[Read more]

Yes! This was exactly me, I’ve been trying to get a bunny since March last year and I just got one a month ago. My parents were dead set against me getting a bunny but I’m pretty stubborn lol. What I did was make a VERY long PowerPoint and sat my whole family down for a presentation. In the PowerPoint I put

Awww sorry you are having a rough go of it. 🙁
So at the moment he is probably getting more afraid because he knows the medicine is coming, but that should be temporary. For now, you will just need to resolve to take a tough-love approach, because he does need his meds. I find it helps to take some deep breaths so I stay as calm as possible as…[Read more]

Hi michaela, it’s great that you are doing all this research before getting a bunny!
You might check out this page that has a break down of potential costs (which you might have already): https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/costs-of-a-bunny/
I think the most important things to consider are:
- who will care for the bunny when you move out, go…

DanaNM replied to the topic My bunnies wont let me near them never mind brush or cut nails! in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Bringing them inside will help a ton!
The other thing is to do lots of hand feeding (pellets, veggies, treats, etc.) so they associate you with good things and learn not to be afraid of your hands. With bunnies it can also help to spend a lot of time with them where you basically ignore them (play hard to get). This helps them learn you are not a…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Training a teenage rabbit too young to be neutered in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
Not sure about the behavioral stuff, but just wanted to say that males can be neutered younger than females can be spayed (really as soon as their testicles drop), so you might see if you can find a vet that is more comfortable with the procedure. The fact that your vet doesn’t think neutering will help with the behaviors is also odd, because…[Read more]

any advice on convincing parents to let you get a bun or two?
-
Well, if you already have one you can just take very good care of the other one way more, research/make a PowerPoint all about rabbits, be organised with everything. Hope this helps 🙂 x -
Thanks! I don’t already have one.😭

Hey!
I didn’t really know which section this fit into.. so it’s in House Rabbit Q & A. Basically, I’ve been researching since January 2020. I’ve asked my parents a few times before, but they’ve always said no. I’ve kind of kept my research to myself until I have enough money for a bun or two (or more). I get $10 a week from my parents (I’m not…[Read more] -

😂I’m sure one slice of apple won’t hurt, bunnies obviously love apple too. I bet your bunny was really happy after that slice of apple.

Well, the plan didn’t go as planned. I forgot to mention that Theo REALLY does not like to be picked up, to the point where I’ve actually only managed it once in 5 years and that was when he was very sick. Before this whole bonding thing when we needed to catch him to trim his nails or something we would lure him into his travel crate with treats…[Read more]

Hi Jersey – I hope you are safe and well.
Thanks for your response. You know, somehow, his teeth being the problem had never occurred to me (duh!). You just sparked a memory in my head that when he last had his teeth checked (around 6 months ago) the vet did say that they weren’t wearing evenly but otherwise looked healthy, and didn’t seem to…[Read more]

Ok thanks bam for the advise. Michaela it might be abit late for that as my daughter was sat in garden with a bowl of sliced apples and one of the bunnys pinched one and ran off. It was a funny moment tbh i heard my daughter cry and then saw the bunny zooming off with a slice of apple😂

I know you didn’t really ask about fruits, but generally you need to wait until they are 7-8 months to introduce those. (They can be fed as a treat and many bunnies LOVE banana.)

Oh! Ok! I’d say give greens twice per day, because it’s such a happy moment for them. Health wise it doesn’t matter.
