DanaNM started the topic Considering free-roam at night…? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 4 months ago
Hey everyone!
So we (like everyone) have been home pretty much 24/7 lately. So far Myra is a perfect angel lol. Neither she nor Bun Jovi chew the carpet, which was the major reason why I haven’t been able to have free-roam buns before (Bertha was a major chewer).
Myra and BJ DO however, love to run around like crazy buns at night in their condo…[Read more]

Alright, I’ll keep an eye on it until I can get a vet appointment. I’m not sure how old he could be, I’m thinking he’s a young adult because he’s not super small. I don’t think he was starving out there because he would regularly eat the veggies in our garden and he does seem a little chubby. I put him as my profile pic so you guys can see because…[Read more]

It’s a tough call. How near are you to any of the outbreak areas? I would assume that the virus is actually in a wider area than it’s been detected. I’ve seen some people growing hydroponically indoors for their bunnies. I think growing in raised beds or pots on tables would also be safer, but there is always the risk of insects moving it around…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Female humping and chasing brother – I'm feeling stressed! in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
It seems like males have much bigger changes in behavior post-neuter? I’ve been around unneutered male buns that will not leave you alone because they are trying to mount your feet lol. The hormonal behaviors in females seem to be more territorial (even aggression) and marking, so I am guessing she will be fine. 🙂

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonded rabbits chasing – is it aggressive? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
When they chase, are Anjou’s ears back and tail up? If so that’s a more aggressive chase. Ears forward (facing the rabbit they are chasing) is more playful or them wanting to mount.
Was this a recent change or has it been pretty constant?

DanaNM replied to the topic It's official: Beau hates Timothy hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Second Hazel, if he’s getting alfalfa young rabbit pellets you can just get rid of the alfalfa hay.
Oat and rye hay are also fine (any grass hay can take the place of timothy). You might also experiment with different hay cuts or sources. Mine currently tend to like the crunchier hay pieces, although Bunston always liked the soft grassy ones. 🙂

The “puncture wound” could be from an insect bite,in which case a local reaction like swelling would be normal. You can clean it chlorhexidine solution or weak peroxide solution or weak iodine solution (which stains, so it’s not so nice to work with, but it is bunny safe), and put on some triple antibiotic ointment or fucidine ointment. If you use…[Read more]

My rabbits, Anjou and Kiwi, are sisters who I adopted together from a rescue. They have remained bonded since I adopted them last summer. I am wondering, however, if their chasing behaviour is something that I should be worried about. Anjou is clearly the dominant one, and she often chases Kiwi around. Sometimes I see Anjou try and nip Kiwi’s bum.…[Read more]

Thank you for replying! She hasnt shown any signs of pain, so I am pretty sure she is doing well. I will try the method with the hay to keep a eye of her pee just in case. Also I will move the bed out her exercise pen until she gets spayed to prevent pee from getting on it. I really appreciate your comment. Again thank you so much:)
Stay saf…[Read more]

Hi there, don’t panic just yet!
If she is only 4 months old it is unlikely to be cancer (usually it starts showing up around 4 years old). To me that photo does not look like blood. Rabbit urine can be dark in color sometimes due to the diet, blood usually looks like opaque droplets of blood within the urine, rather than uniformly darker. But…[Read more]

Before this happened, I had no idea rabbits were treated so badly. Online I found hundreds of rabbits for sale after being dumped on a highway, parks, or backyards.
We’re hoping to take Bernard to the vet soon but everywhere is booked until mid June. He has what looks like a puncture wound above his eye that swelled up a bit. Could that be s…[Read more] -

I walked in my room a few minutes ago to charge my phone. As I reached into a her excercises pen I petted her for a few. As I walked closer to the end of her pen I saw her bed filled with urine but with a more blood color type. She hasnt been spayed yet she is about 4 months. I have found somewhere to get her spayed her, but because of the c…[Read more]
