DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding 2 (spayed) female rabbits: mounting in the forum BONDING 6 years, 4 months ago
Some mounting is normal, and if it doesn’t lead to fighting that’s a good thing. They both will probably show some dominance displays to try to sort out who will be top bun. Preventing fighting is the top priority, and I’ve found that in small spaces things can escalate to fighting quickly because they don’t have space to get away from each…[Read more]

I am beginning the process of bonding 2 adult female rabbits both of which are spayed. I placed their pens next to each other and after some time I placed them together in a neutral territory, my bathtub, for Introductions. They both humped each other. Is that normal or does that mean they both have dominant personalities? I am kinda nervous as…[Read more]

Bunnie2020 replied to the topic Dwarf lop or mini lop? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
I weighed him by me standing on the scales and then holding him and deducting the weight, And he weighed about 2kg?
So would that class him as a dwarf?

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonded rabbits chasing – is it aggressive? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
Ah, I see! Hopefully they simmer down! It might also be helpful to see if you can identify a trigger to the chasing (like an unmet grooming request, a certain time of day, before meal times, etc). I had one pair that would chase a bit when I was bringing over their food because they were just too excited lol.

uneliste started the topic Sherwood Pet Health recommends no greens – thoughts? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
I recently have come across Sherwood Pet Health, and their pellets seem very healthy! I am thinking of purchasing them in the future when my current Oxbow pellets run out. However, their recommendation to reduce greens or eliminate them altogether shocked me. Currently, I am feeding each of my 6-pound bunnies about 3 cups of leafy greens a day.…[Read more]

Okay, thank you so much for your help! While there is some chasing, there are still lots of positive behaviours, so I think I will just keep an eye out for now.
But yes, they were unaltered before I adopted them. I’m guessing that this may be because the rescue I adopted them from is mainly a cat rescue, not a rabbit rescue, and so it is possible…[Read more]

Elad replied to the topic Bunny is peeing everywhere after having another bunny friend in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
Thanks, Dana, I will try your suggestions.
Just to clarify what I meant: They are usually not divided, but as the peeing continuous, I tried to divide them several times, for a few days, with no success.
They know each other for more than 3 months, I don’t know if it still considers a new bond.

Hazel replied to the topic How to Litter train Rabbits? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
They don’t need one, but it’s an option if you feel like they need something more comfortable (but like I said, they probably won’t care). Some rabbits have issues with sore hocks and in those cases it can be important to have something soft to cover the floor with.
I agree, getting the hay and fur off is such a pain! 😆

Thanks for everyone’s replys. He’s doing well, I’ve now seen him eat his cecotropes in the normal way on three occasions, he is still eating/drinking. He’s a one year old lion head called bruno and just before lockdown he had his check up (that he gets ever six months) and everything was all good.

Thanks!! I can totally see that now! Won’t a fleece blanket be too hot in the summer? I usually use them in the winter but they get so mucky and it’s a pain to get the hay off to wash 😂

Bam replied to the topic Theo has to have his teeth burred after 2nd vet visit 🙁 in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
My Yohio had 3 burrs during his life. No problems whatsoever. He passed away of sth completely unrelated. My current bun Vilde has had 2 burrs so far, he was 7 for both.. No problems with anaesthesia, and he was in a *really* bad way for his first burr. He was practically dying, but the burr turned things around. Like Theo, he was wrongly…[Read more]

Thank you! 🙂 If you’re talking about my avatar, he’s one of my bridge bunnies. Yours are cuties as well! 😀
I was thinking maybe they didn’t like to step on the litter but Carefresh is plenty soft, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I use horse stall pellets, feed stores like Tractor Supply sell them for around $6 for a 40 lbs bag. It works…[Read more]

Yes, they are the vets we always see and are the best in where I live- pretty much everyone goes there.
As it is that time of year, perhaps it is because of the moulting, but it is in only one area. What does that mean? -
Bam replied to the topic Seeing Cecotropes in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
I agree with LBJ. Just keep an eye on things. Stress changes the pH of the gut which in turn changes the bacterial/fungal flora in the cecum. It doesnt have to be severe/detrimental stress, just the impact of a change of enviroment. It’s nothing to worry about as long as the bun keeps eating, especially hay, and drinking.
Check daily for…[Read more]

A photo can definitely be helpful. Sometimes just natural shedding/molting can cause dandruff and white flakes, but it goes away once brushed or when the new fur finally grows in and the dead skin falls out.
I am also wondering what a rabbit pimple is? Are the vets you contacted people who you have met before and feel are experienced with…[Read more]
