Bunny Bride replied to the topic Travel needed for my surgery–what is safest option for bunny? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Thanks for the input. After reading that I realized you are probably right about the plane–not ideal, but even a 5 hour flight is way better than 3 days of packing and unpacking him in hotels. At least it would be over with faster. I am not sure if the train would be any better than car. Also as far as a sitter, I would have the person stay at my…[Read more]

Ok, for right now I placed a small wood log he likes to chew on the corner, but I will look into getting a ceramic tile. I also heard they are great for rabbits to cool off in the heat of the summer.

Yeah of course! There are also lots of videos on how to care for your bun post-surgery.

Hmm, I suppose it’s possible. He could also start chewing and possibly eating the fabric/tarp eventually. You can try putting some heavy ceramic tiles in the corners, those usually work to deter digging.
If that doesn’t work, you might reconsider your flooring. A lot of people like to use a piece of plywood with some peel and stick linoleum on…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic How often do you groom your rabbits? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
The only grooming need I really “schedule” is probably nail-trimming, which happens once every month for one of my rabbits and once every 2 months for my second rabbit (the latter gets very stressed by it, so we space it out more).
I think with fur grooming, it’s most important to simply be vigilant and always open to realizing “Ah, there’s a lot…[Read more]

FYI, if you have a feed shop in your area, the same type of pine pellets are also sold as horse stall bedding. I get mine for $9 for a 40lb bag. Wood stove pellets are also the same thing and are cheap too (as long as they don’t have additives).

According to the SPS customer service (I used their Live Chat, haha) and they said they are the same exact product, so it should be all right.

I accidentally bought the cat pine pellet litter on small pet select instead of the rabbit one. Both basically seem the exact same, on the site both say kiln dried and no phenols or additives. Is the cat one safe for my bunny?

My beautiful baby Thumper had to be euthanized on friday the 22nd. It was the hardest choice I’ve ever had to make, but I am happy he is at peace. He was the sweetest rabbit in the world and loved to give kisses and run around my feet. I am so blessed to have gotten to know him all these years and I will miss him forever.
A week before he p…[Read more]

I have a flea comb I bought, but when I used it to comb my rabbit, no hair was picked up. Is this because he isn’t shedding, or should I invest in a comb like the Hairbuster?

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Neutering my bunny in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Getting your rabbit neutered should be a priority, although he isn’t around females, he will still have mate-seeking behaviors. Un-neutered rabbits also mark their territory, and neutering him would definitely reduce peeing on the floor and other unwanted places, and it makes litter-training much easier. Since you don’t have the chance of two…[Read more]

In my rabbits xpen, i made him a “mat” that is made of fabric with an opening to put a tarp inside in case of leakage or accidents. The open side has velcro, but isn’t completely closed. My bun has been digging at the edges, and I was wondering if it’s a possibility he could dig and get inside the tarp cover and possibly suffocate. If it is, how…[Read more]

During a molt, you might need to groom daily or even twice daily. But when they aren’t molting they usually only need light brushing or hand plucking maybe weekly? You kind of need to gauge how much fur is coming off them. When mine are really molting heavily I pretty much brush them as much as possible, and I will occasionally pop one on the…[Read more]

What if you put a roof or hide box that covered the litter box/ hay area? Then maybe she would be encouraged to toilet in the box and eat more hay because it was in a safe space?

That’s a tough call, but I think if the person who would look after him at home is trusted and will spend a lot of time with him (either staying at your place or him staying with them), then that would prob be the least stressful for him. But I would go over things to watch out for very carefully with the sitter and make sure they know what to do…[Read more]

Hello everyone! I have a young Holland lop who is about to be 5 months old soon, his name is Percival. I’ve been noticing he’s been gradually getting dirty underneath his chin, and the fur seems to look matted. I tried cleaning the area with a warm damp cloth. I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it dealing with his scent…[Read more]
