Louiethebunny started the topic super skittish in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
starting a few days ago, my bun has been extremely skittish when I get close. He used to be mellow and I could do whatever, but now every time I get close he gets super frisky. Is this because he’s scared, or is he just being frisky?

He doesn’t eat it like food, he just nibbles here and there. I think I’ll watch how he acts with it a little while more, and if it’s unsafe I’ll move it somewhere else. I think he likes it because he can dig and play on it.

If he happens to ingest the odd little piece, it’s probably harmless. But if he starts munching on it, it could potentially cause intestinal blockage so of you see tendencies towards munching, remove it.

This is regular. One of my rabbit’s favorite spots is the windowsill. Maybe it’s the temperature or the view, but it’s common!

Yes, once each get spayed, you’ll need to separate them. At the minimum, this will ensure that they can recover. Any running or fights or spurts may open up the incision, so you want to minimize any stressors and agitators the week following the spay. In addition there can be a hormonal spike that occurs after a spay as the body works itself…[Read more]

I have found a vet that is says she is experienced with rabbits. We took OB there when she had a respiratory infection, and they made her a new rabbit! But they unfortunately don’t spay rabbits. No one really spays rabbits for a reasonable cost. I just checked in on Silver and she’s laying side by side with OB and Smokey right now. Although…[Read more]

I took her to the vet and he said she was older and . I belive she can’t hold her bladder because she does not go to the bathroom in any specific place in her pen. And she cant reach around and clean herself so she always sits in her urine and poop. Both of my rabbits are housed in a 8 panel dog kennel. They also are out 2 hours per day to run…[Read more]

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>So is he a dwarf mini lop haha,

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>I asked another forum page and I got told that he is a dwarf. Because of his face isn’t as flat as a mini lop. And because he is big compared to a mini lop.

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>So they said they think he is a cross bread of a dwarf l…[Read more] -

If he is an actual lionlop, which is a breed recognized in the UK, then he would be a dwarf. NOTE: This breed is not recognized in the US. Like I said, a UK mini lop and a US mini lop are not the same breed. A UK mini lop carries the dwarfism gene, while US mini lop does not. Any dwarf breed can have false dwarf offspring. They are still…[Read more]

I have a shag rug in the room I let my bunny run around in, and when he gets his free roam time, he often digs at it and I cannot always tell if he is chewing it. I’m considering moving it somewhere else in the house and replacing it with something less shaggy, is it dangerous if he possibly ingests little strands of the rug, (it is made of plastic.)

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Chewing xpen bars in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
I am going to try to free roam him part-time, as long as I’m home, and hopefully, that will help cease the chewing. I may try the sheet thing, I have many old sheets I wouldn’t mind a few chew holes in.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Chewing xpen bars in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
It’s a common phenomena for a rabbit to chew the bars once they know there is land beyond it they can access. There are actually many instances where, even if the pen door is open, a rabbit will chew on the bars, haha. Try to put yourself in your rabbit’s shoes — why on earth am I being arbitrarily kept from the rest of my territory? Ugh! One of…[Read more]

I also noticed him doing it mostly hen I’m out of the room. He could also be being a little naughty, and he’s very sassy. I offered him several other chews and placed them where he’s been chewing, and they distracted him a bit and he continues to push around the xpen and chew it.

Many rabbits do do better with companions! Unfortunately, as stated above, whether siblings or not, rabbits need to be properly bonded once they are spayed/neutered in order to solidify a safe, forever friendship with each other. That is definitely very much possible if you get them all spayed. Note that spaying them would not be a magical cure…[Read more]

Be careful giving away Bernard if your friend doesn’t know why her bunny passed! If her bunny passed suddenly and you are in an RHDV2 area, be careful before giving away the rabbit, as the virus can stay on surfaces and objects for a while.
