Maybe the lack of appetite is a side effect of the Doxycycline. Be sure to double check all observations with the vet.

I would proceed with scans if they haven’t had any already. Either skull CT or X-ray. Just to be sure.

Hello, back again. Rabbits have had about 10 days of Doxycycline now. No major improvement.
One is snuffling quite a bit. Both lacking appetite. Not sure if I need to persist with antibiotics or if another approach is needed.
They’re still eating fresh grass, herbs, nuggets and fibafirst haystacks, so not losing weight so far luckily but no…[Read more]

Her teeth are probably sore if they were trimmed. This should improve with time. Going back and forth with eating a little/not eating isn’t unusual with gas/stasis recovery. Tooth problems can be an underlying cause, so hopefully the issue will be resolved after this.

Hi guys, thank you both for your helpful comments and suggestions. I think you are probably right, and a ER vet will not be much help, as he is eating/drinking normal, pooping normal and behaving like his usual self, I’ll wait until Monday when I can take him to my usual, rabbit specialist vet .
He still wants to be around me and is en…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I have a almost 4 year old female spayed rabbit who had a little bit of GI stasis yesterday. I gave her 2 doses of baby gas medicine and 5mg of a nutrirescue from small pet select that I’ve used in the past when i notice they aren’t eating.
After 3 hours she started eating hay and going to the bathroom. But i noticed that she was…[Read more]

Hmm… this doesn’t look normal. As Bam said, this looks like nystagmus. We are not vets, so we can’t give medical advice. That being said, I don’t know how much an emergency vet will be able to help. They generally just provide supportive care and then refer you to your regular vet for follow-up. Will he be OK for a couple of days and not get…[Read more]

I’m not 100% sure what I’m seeing, but it could be “tracking” ie nystagmus, if he’s moving his head from side to side, quicker to one side and slower on the way back. Sometimes you see the white of the eyes while its going on. Is he doing this head rolling pretty much all the time or just occasionally?
There are two major (msjor as in most…[Read more]

IMG_4281My 2 year old male rabbit, Theo, has begun moving his head round as shown in the video. This is new behaviour for him, but I’m wondering if I’m worrying needlessly. He’s eating the same, drinking the same, still playing and binkying and doing all of his normal things, but every now and again when he’s stood or sat still, he’ll roll his…[Read more]

Wasn’t even a cat scuffle, my cats are dumb as hell sometimes and think flat things are solid when they are infact not.
Consistently isn’t a issue, unless I don’t have the energy or I’m away, bonding will happen in one shape or form.

Rabbit relationship dynamics, like human children, can be confusing. Consistency is key in bonding, so take the small victory and hope for the best moving forward! The cat scuffle definitely makes sense as something to muck up progress, so just keep moving forward and stay diligent.

With the strangest development honestly I don’t even know. These rabbits are confusing me. 😫
I placed them in a slightly larger area for bonding tonight. Usually it’s a scuffle but this time it was just a lunge and a small chase and a spray. No issue.
Added a litter box and usually this is a fight but nothing happened. If anyt…[Read more]

I agree, this all sounds very hormonal. And yes, they can definitely have “mood swings”.
