Babyfacecupcake replied to the topic Does anyone have interlocking floor mats for their buns living space? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 4 months ago

I do use interlocking foam tiles for my buns and they do work well but I cover them with fleece liners. When they arent covered my buns try to destroy the foam and i wouldnt want them to ingest it. The completely leave them alone when i have the fleece covering it. But they don’t have a whole room to themselves. They free roam when im home to…[Read more]

Sounds like stomach discomfort. Yes, dental problems can lead to GI stasis.

Ok thank you, being a new bunny owner, I’m super paranoid about everything. Just glad my bun’s doing fine.

My bun is pretty familiar with me and my mom, so when its time to get the job done I think she should help me, and I also noticed his back nails grow a little slower so I won’t have to cut them all at once. I might feed him a little bit of SmallPetSelect’s Zen Tranquility Blend to calm him a little bit so he feels a little more relaxed too. Thank…[Read more]

He mostly gets wet when he is drinking from his bowl, and at times his fur holds alot of water I noticed. I never seen him drooling but i am worried about him so I will be seeing the vet hopefully this week. Grooming isn’t an issue, but I have seen him trying to groom this particular area, I had a friend (who works at the exotic clinic I take him…[Read more]

I’ve put some towels over her cage for privacy, and she seems to have calmed down. But earlier today she just kept tipping over her litter box, and making a mess EVERYWHERE! Smokey’s false pregnancy only lasted a day. I wonder if OB’s will last that long. I gave her Smokey’s old nest, she seems to be good right now. It started around yesterday.…[Read more]

I do not have direct experience, but it may be more stressful for her if you keep trying to interact with her. She probably has a really heightened sense of protection right now, so my instinct is to say leave her alone and just make sure she has access to food and water at all times and read her body language for any worrying signs. If she’s…[Read more]

That can be pretty normal — he may be habituating to it. It may not be as exciting anymore, so a reduction in binkies makes sense. Without making too many assumptions or cognitive leaps, I imagine a rabbit who is used to being penned up going “FREEDOM YAY!” when let out, but when let out more frequently and routinely, the energy becomes more so…[Read more]

That’s great to hear! It does sound like she’s feeling a bit better, as she is eating a bit and drinking. Checking in with the vet sounds like a good idea. Wish you guys the best!

Two things I think any new owner approaching this arduous task should keep in mind:
    1) There’s no rule saying you need to do every single nail in one sitting; keep a chart or notes and spread it across a day or weeks, if that seems more manageable to you.
    2) Do not feel pressured to clip off as much as you can (i.e. be as close to the quick as…[Read more]

UPDATE: I spent a long time with Hunny this evening, just sitting in her corral and keeping her company. Some very interesting things happened:

1.) Three times over the course of the night, either in a “loaf” or relaxed position (sprawled out), Hunny was making clicking sounds while grinding her teeth. They weren’t the typical “purring” noises…[Read more]

Hi again! Sorry to keep bugging you guys, but OB is now having a false pregnancy, and she is RESTLESS!!! She dumped out her litter box scattered it around her cage, and keeps pulling out her fur! She is by far the most difficult false mama of them all. I don’t know what to do! She started getting restless this morning, and then in the evening, she…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic Bonding Behavior Question in the forum BONDING 6 years, 4 months ago

Have you done any pre bonding (switching toys, litter boxes, enclosures between them)? There should be several weeks of pre bonding before any face to face meetings. Flat ears are a sign of aggression, putting their tail up is as well. It sounds like Willow is expecting an attack when being chased, it’s not play. I doubt Clover is being playful…[Read more]

Recently I have been allowing my bun MUCH more free roam time, going from a few hours a day to practically all day that I am at home. I’m getting into the habit of letting him run with his xpen door open as long as I’m home. I did notice after allowing him more time, he spent less time exploring and doing binkies, but he has been resting and…[Read more]

I’ve had my rabbit for nearly one month, and his nails are getting pretty long and it’s about time to cut his nails. Any tips on getting him to be still and tolerate it? I want him to trust me but cutting his nails is a pretty necessary thing. I also know the “press, press, clip” rule.

Louiethebunny replied to the topic how did you convince your parents to get a bun? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago

I totally get the getting attached to one too soon. I looked on Petfinder for rabbits near me, and got attached to about 5 different buns! I honestly recommend looking at Petfinder because you can search up specifics like age. I found lots of buns on Petfinder and showed them to my mom, and we decided to adopt my bun from a shelter close by. It’s…[Read more]
