Ditto everything Dana said. I’ve experienced the same with my bun. Since I hardly ever pick him up he’s not suspicious of my hands in the slightest, so if I do have to scoop him up for some reason it’s a done deal before he even realizes what’s going on. Easy peasy.

I would NOT go for the invasive surgery. If she pooped, she is not blocked. And my vet usually encourages syringe feeding and fluids to treat fur blocks anyway, to push things through. (for context my vet is amazing and has worked with my rabbit rescue for over 20 years).

Just to add a bit more info (not to complicate things), I checked with my vet and he does spay between 4-6 months, but bases it mostly on weight, so they have to be over 2 lbs.

I believe the standard is to limit exercise for 7- 10 days post-spay, so I would imagine she would be pretty much back to normal after that.

I just don’t know what to do anymore. We took Hunny to the specialist but weren’t allowed inside with her because of COVID. My family was sent home with the knowledge Hunny would be anesthetized and given an x-ray. Blood work would be done. Hunny would have to spend the night, possibly longer.

Did you recently get the male rabbit?

The nervousness may be stemming from a new rabbit. Even if you were not actively bonding them yet, she most likely immediately sensed, smelled, and heard once he entered her space. With spaying I think I personally would probably wait? You wouldn’t even need to rush to spay right at 6 months, so could spend a bit of time letting her get settled in and finding a good vet etc?

OB is back to being a false mama. Glad to hear they won’t forget about each other, though. Will these false pregnancies continue going on and off after they are spayed? hmmm, what is his bowl like? Is it deep? I wonder if he is having to dip his chin in to drink? Maybe a wider shallower bowl might help. Could def be drooling from dental issues though so having the vet check him out is a good idea.

I tend to only hold when necessary, rather than trying to “get them used to it”, but I do think it’s important to be able to pick up your rabbit and hold them safely, whether that be training them to go into a carrier, or being able to pick them up yourself.
