My carpet-chewers liked cardboard cat scratchers as a safe alternative. Then I cover up “hot spots” with heavy ceramic tiles. Buns tend to get obsessed over specific spots so blocking those spots can help.

@Cassie my brain went to EC as well. I agree that this is def worth a visit to a bun savvy vet.

I would make sure they cannot have any face to face interactions until she is spayed. You might even want to minimize pre-bonding for now if they are acting stressed about it, as she will smell very differently after she is spayed. Even after spaying, you don’t want to do face to face interactions in any non-neutral space to start off with, as the…[Read more]

Some say immune supplements should be avoided, because many of the ill effects of ec are due to the body’s own immuno reaction. I’m not sure though, I doubt the immuno supplements sold for rabbits would make much of a difference in either direction.
Good nutrition is very important for any bun that is poorly, though. EC takes a toll and your bun…[Read more]

This made me get flash backs to one of my rabbits. She was clean one week and the next she had urine all over her rear end. She was also acting normal too like eating a pooping good it was just her dirty messy bottom. It turned out it was a ecuniculi symptom. Please take your bunny to a bunny savvy vet as soon as you can just to be safe.

I use a thin layer of pine pellets with a fluffy hay layer on top. I dump the whole box every other day. No odor that I can detect.

That’s wonderful news and the plan sounds very good! Keep up the good work! And keep up the pooping and eating Hunny!
During this time don’t be afraid to offer her extra greens frequently if there’s something that she loves (cilantro, basil, mint, romaine, whatever she loves). I’m sure she will be happy to be home. 🙂

Hunny is home! I’m giving her time to acclimate and get used to her (familiar) surroundings. Here are our post-discharge instructions from the vet:
___________________________________________
1.) Feed as normal. Check daily to be sure Hunny is eating, drinking, and defecating. Monitor waste production closely and force-feed immediately if you n…[Read more]

Peanut could just be thumping because of your new unfamiliar rabbit, I would be super concerned unless it reaches a very serious point. You sound like you have everything going super well right now!

He’s completely fine otherwise!! He eats normally, and everything is completely normal. I was concerned because he is normally so clean, despite him being partly white.

I use a large cat litter box that had a top but remove the door, and that keeps the smell inside very well. By the time it’s time to change the litter box, it barely smells, but Louie won’t use a soiled litter box so I change it. I use CareFresh and hay in my litter box and put a paper bag as a liner. Puppy pee pads don’t absorb a great bunch,…[Read more]

I feed my bunny salad twice a day, once in the morning around 8-9 when I wake up and again at around 8-9 pm when I’m ending my day and winding down. I feed him a portion of pellets with his salad but also free-feed him pellets throughout the day because my Louie is still growing. I give him little bits of pellets throughout the day when I’m…[Read more]

I woke up this morning to very good news! Hunny did 15 poops over night (and apparently, a few more)! She also nibbled on some romaine! That’s about where my girl was before she went to see the specialist. Hoping she continues to improve!
I am picking Hunny up from the vet and bringing her home this afternoon. Anything I should make sure I ask…[Read more]

Thank you guys so much for the info! I’m going to look into Virkon. I want to keep my little bun safe as I possibly can! Also one more question can immune supplements be helpful to a rabbit with EC? I know it won’t treat the bunny but wonder if it can help a bit

Hi Guys!
So I wanted to know if anyone had suggestions about any rabbit litter that helps with pee smell? Currently I have my bunnies using a litter box with just a puppy pad in the bottom to soak up the urine. My family always complains how bad their pee smells when I travel home and I need a product that could possibly help with that. Also, I…[Read more]

Hey! I feed my rabbits twice a day, once in the morning at 9-10am when I give them pellets and top up their hay, and once in the evening at 6-7pm when I give them greens and top up their hay again. Generally twice a day is good to help regularly check they are eating normally and spot if they are not to keep an eye on them in case of any health…[Read more]

I haven’t heard people use the term specifically for rabbits (I feel people usually associate it with dogs), but yes, just like other animals who have been purposely bred for shorter faces, we do see some short-faced-associated problems with some NDs, because they are a dwarf breed. Similar to dogs and cats, as LBJ10 mentioned, we see more…[Read more]

firstly Thumping the back foot is a natural reaction among rabbits to danger that they have smelt, heard or seen
I’ve never owned a rabbit but I’ve done loads of research here’s some videos
