are you in America or England(you don’t have to answer this question if you don’t want too)know they sold it in America

some people feed their rabbits both alfalfa hay and pellets, but if a rabbit gets free fed alfalfa pellets and eats regular timothy hay, they receive enough nutrients and fiber. My bun was being fed timothy hay and alfalfa pellets and I continued the same way after adopting him.

so I can feed a baby bun timothy hay and give them alfalfa pellets

is this the usual way people give it to them

Grooming is actually a good sign! Sick bunnies won’t groom themselves, so the fact that she’s grooming means she’s feeling better.

If you’re worried about her tonight there is no shame in checking on her throughout the night. I even slept on the floor with Bun Jovi when he had stasis, but that was before we had been able to get to the vet (he got…[Read more]

Thought I would share some shelter bunnies enjoying their greens from my shift today 🙂

    Marigold:

Gizmo, the sweetest boy who just had his incisors removed due to crazy malocclusion:

Sable asking politely for the veggies:

Sweet Terrence, such a nice boy 🙂 :

Thank you guys so much! I’m glad it sounds like things are going in the right direction, to you! Makes me feel a little better 🙂 Dana, thank you so much for checking with the shelter lead! That means a lot 😀

So yeah, today was mostly an off-day until Hunny ate for my mom, passed gas, and then ate for me. I gave her plenty of fresh water, but…[Read more]

Young bunnies can have unlimited grass hay. As long as they are getting pellets with alfalfa in them they don’t need alfalfa hay.

The ups and downs do sound like her tummy is coming back online. I understand how stressful it is to see them up and down like this. 🙁 Come on Hunny, stop stressing your mom out!

She may have a hard time with chewing if her teeth were filed too much (they might be sensitive). Sounds like she is responding to being fussed over, so by all means…[Read more]

Ok, if it continues and is followed by something worse, like discomfort, I’ll look more into it.

is she consuming enough water? if so, I would give her a little bit more time and check again for urine. On my bun’s first day home he didn’t pee or poop at all, and finally, the next day, he went as normal, so I would just give Hunny a little more time then check back with her. This situation must be extremely stressful, and patience is key. It…[Read more]

I would only be worried if his pupils were different or something like that. I think constriction of the pupils while sleeping with their eyes open is a normal reaction. Their eyes are open, but their eyes are trying to shut out the light.

As soon as Hunny finished drinking and passing gas, she gobbled up six more pieces of cilantro. She may have done more poops too. She only did a penny-sized speck of pee (abnormal, even since stasis started), so I’m concerned about that…

probably not, but you will most likely be informed of the rabbit’s age and weight, and from there you can know what amount of food he or she will need. My favorite brand so far if Oxbow for har and pellets, I like the Garden Select young rabbit food for my bun. Some rabbits are very particular about their food, so when purchasing hay and pellets…[Read more]

Hunny definitely seems to be in pain. She is grinding her teeth like crazy. I just rubbed her tummy some more, and two poops came out, crushed-looking (this happened a couple more times tonight, now that I think about it).

I just got Hunny to take another big drink of water. She kept slurping it up, making little gurgle noises and is passing gas,…[Read more]

LATEST UPDATE: My mother sat with Hunny for a while and managed to get her to eat a piece of romaine and six pieces of cilantro (Hunny’s apparent favorite). My girl did a bunch of almost-normal poops and tried to eat some hay but couldn’t get it in her. It took considerable effort on Hunny’s part, but she also ate one of her favorite hay-based…[Read more]
